My nephew used my vr to play gorilla tag on sunday and i discovered he had somehow spent over £200 of in game content despite me having a pin in place. He was never asked for a pin nor was he aware a transaction was taking place. He told me later that the other players had told him there was a hack to get shiny rocks. Well it appears 'the hack' was a way of buying content without the pin! How is that even ethical allowing purchases from a wallet you thought was pin protected? And why was he never made aware that money was being exchanged? This is very wrong and meta is clearly profitting from this flaw as i noticed in another post that it has happened before. If i tick a box asking for a pin to be required for purchases i expect the pin to be asked at any time money is requested from my wallet. If i knew the pin was not going to be used i would never have saved my payment details to the system. That £200 may seem small to meta but to me that is money i cant, at this point, do without. There is a cost of living crisis and that money is all i had until i get paid again which wont be for another 3 weeks. I have bills to pay and kids to feed and i dont know how im going to make ends meet. I reached out to gorillatag and they said i have to speak to meta whose response was rubbish and basically said they cant refund it. Basically they are profitting from the flaws in their systems which they are probably happy to leave in place.
Is there anyway i can make a complaint because i am very unhappy and am losing trust that meta is safe to do any business with.
Hi Margaret, if you can get your son to replicate the bug or provide step by steps instructions on how this was accomplished and either provide it here or to the Meta support team you are in contact with, you are more likely to have success with any potential refund. I would also attempt to contact META on social media such as Twitter, Threads, Facebook or Instagram to amend this issue as they often are very swift to deal with issues on those platforms.
If a child has used your card without permission, this is considered fraud within the UK under the fraud act 2006, as such speak with your bank regarding this as they will likely act upon this.

Meta i would really like this to be taken into consideration that your underage banning system could be improved , someone like me for example sounds 9 or 10 when iam actually 13 and i had to go through trouble of sending my passport and details so i could get unbanned after being falsely banned in the first place , i hope you read this
My grandson was playing on my oculus, playing gorilla.Tag. And it got him too. Three hundred dollars worth of those shiny rocks. I don't understand how that is even possible that they can do that. That's stealing. My grandson is eight years old, not even asked for a passcode or nothing.
