New account can’t log in

I added my son to the oculus 3, did the steps to add his account with his phone, downloaded the meta app on the phone. Added him in the headset, paired it, we thought with his phone. Now the app asks to pair with the headset an enter the 5 digit code. On the headset it says log in to review the health and safety and enter preferences and we get stuck in this screen, and need to turn the headset off then on to reset it back to my account, and we start all over again trying to switch to his account..

Do I need to delete and start again adding him or am i totally missing something??
