No display in Rift headset (can hear audio though), and now post runtime patch, HDMI not detected

Folks,

For the last couple of weeks I've had issues in that I wasn't getting any display in the headset...but could hear audio (fire sounds, apps making a noise when selected with touch controllers). Today I got the email from Oculus support about the runtime patch...which I've duly applied, and now I cannot get the Oculus app to detect HDMI input from the headset....I get 'No HDMI Connection' in the app.
I've checked my GPU (Nvidia GTX 1080) to ensure it's fine...and it is, the HDMI port works absolutely to another monitor....games run fine outputting through that port to my monitor etc etc. The only thing I can't check is obviously the HDMI cable on the Rift itself!!
I'm at my wits end now folks and hoping some clever soul out there can make some suggestions...I've had over 6 months of trouble free use in this setup and out of the blue I'm now scuppered.
Help!

Yuck! I have not applied the Runtime patch as I just woke up. I hate to hear of the domino effect. I may wait a few days to see if their patch is working or just more of total destruction hahah. I hope you get yours worked out asap!
