No 'do not validate' under the certificate option (wifi)

Our college bring your own device network requires a 'do not validate' option to be set in the certificate area when connecting to the wifi.  That option has disappeared from a coupe of our Quest 2 headsets.  Is there a remedy to get it back?

Hello @rtorre.2024! We would love to assist you with this and provide any information we have in regard to connecting your headsets to the internet. We do understand how important it is to be able to connect your headset to the internet. Companies, organizations, and schools may not always be able to access some of our features while connected to their network because their networks may be secured. No matter how much we want to assist a secured or private network, it requires modifying private protocols. For assistance, the best option would be to contact the network administrator, IT department, or whoever set up the network so that you could connect the headset to the internet.

We hope this information helps. Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Hi there @LTC_NKC, we notice you are having issues with captive portals for the internet. We understand how inconvenient this may be, and we understand how important being able to connect and access the internet is for an amazing VR experience. We would love to help guide you in the right direction for this issue!

For captive portals, we have a public article stating this method of connecting to the internet is not recommended.

However, you will be able to use a hotspot to connect to the internet if you need it on the go.

We hope this information was helpful!

did you ever find a real solution to this?

Hey there, @jakegarn6. We know a stable Wi-Fi connection is always wanted over other methods, however currently this method is not recommended as they can be touch and go on if they work or not. The best workaround we have would be to connect to your device to your phones personal hotspot network.

Unfortunately that's not an option for me as I don't have good service where I am, is there no way to try to connect anyways?

Hey hey @jakegarn6. You can certainly try to connect and see if you have any success, our public article says that it may work after the initial setup so it's work a try. You could also try forgetting the Wi-Fi network and adding it back if you don't receive the portal the first time you connect.

With my network there is no portal, the problem is it won't let me connect in the first place because there is no do not validate ca certificate option and it will not let me connect without selecting something there.

I'm having the same issue as @jakegarn6 in this thread

I just factory reset my Oculus Quest 2 headset, and when I try to sign in to my wifi, I need to select "Do not validate" under the CA Certificate dropdown. This option was previously available, I used it all the time with multiple headsets, including this one. But now that option is no longer present. What's weirder, I factory reset another headset today and it still has the correct "Do not validate" option in its wifi settings! Without wifi this headset is a paperweight, hotspotting from my phone is not an option, this setting needs to be re-enabled @MetaQuestSupport
