No family sharing!!!

EastSideDaddios

CANNOT be shared between multiple headsets in the same family. I wish I knew this before buying. I was told we could have several people playing the same game WITH each other, in the same household without paying multiple times for apps but was wrong. My kids can't get into the same game at the same time as each other or even find each other in the same game using multiple accounts.  NOT a good game for family time!!!  Spent an hour online with a live person and was told it can't be done.

Hey there, @EastSideDaddios and @Cashappmeoutsiide88! We recognize that it's important you folks have all the relevant details on this app sharing feature, so we wanted chime in to share some further insight! By the way, enabling app sharing on a headset allows you to share eligible apps with additional accounts on the headset. App sharing does not work between headset's, however, if one headset is logged into the admin account with app sharing disabled, a second headset can enable app sharing on the same admin account so the additional accounts on the second headset have access to the admin accounts apps. We hope that clarifies a bit! For more information on app sharing, please check out this article and be sure to let us know!

There are several threads on this.

App sharing was introduced so that a household no longer have to buy multiple headsets and multiple instances of the same app to enjoy them. They can now have their own separate accounts on a single headset and share a game that has been bought once, between all the accounts.

What can also be done but not really recommended is multiple headsets can use the same account to play the same game at the same time, but there are very few games that will then allow those games to be used at the same time in a multiplayer mode.

Wait, I been spending days since Christmas to try and have my kids play together and even before I bought the second oculus set up was told that the kids COULD play same game on separate headsets at the same time? I’ve emailed meta several times and have not received an email back. If this is true I may be taking my new set up back. Please tell me there is a way

I don't know who told you or what they said.

If you Google Meta app sharing or Quest app sharing, the first 2 sites listed are Meta's website explaining what you can and can't do.

This forum is also a great place to get information. As I said, this topic has several threads explaining app sharing.

I don't think the Meta employees are allowed to spend time with family and kids, or have kids.  The current "sharing" between maximum two devices and the "owner" having to be logged in on both - is far from good.

One would believe meta would like to sell more and have more engagement from a average family of 3-4 persens - but noooo. ;(
