No head tracking in extended mode

I have gotten my DK2 working with my surface pro 2 tablet, but when I connect to my desktop the head tracking only works in direct mode with the included desk demo. I have tried with both a radeon 290x and GTX 970 and both have the same problem; when direct mode is enabled, the included desk demo works, but when I switch to extended mode, the Oculus utility doesn't recognize that it is connected anymore; the play demo button and profile buttons turn greyed out and if I try a game, the video works but the head tracking doesn't. Any ideas? Thanks.

Not sure about this one.

Can you try switching USB ports around or using a powered USB 2.0 hub?
