No icon in Devices when Quest 2 connected to PC via USB?

I can connect and transfer files using SideQuest, but I want to access directly from Win Explorer. It should come up as an icon called Quest 2 under My PC /Devices and drives, but no luck. Any ideas?

We definitely understand how frustrating this can be with being able to access PCVR, which is inherently a phenomenal experience. Just so that we are looking into this as thoroughly as possible, we do have a few questions for clarification:

  •  Has this ever worked before for you
  • What error message are you receiving?
  • When was the last time you were able to use this successfully?
  • Have you attempted to reach out to SideQuest Support through this process which you can find here

Hello. Sorry for late reply. I'm afraid you missunderstand. SideQuest is working great and I can transfer files that way, so I know that the USB cable and connection is working. The problem is that I can't access the file system via Windows 10. There should be an icon under My devices, but there is not. Thank you for replying. It would be really useful to solve this.

  • Yes, I've had the Quest 2 icon under My Devices in Windows before.
  • No error. It just looks like it's not mounted, (but I know there's a connection because I can see that in SideQuest.)
  • I don't know. About a year ago maybe?

Hey there! We are happy you reached back out and were able to clarify a few things. We did reach out to a specialist and here is what they had to say about the matter:

 check notifications, have them double check USB Dialog is working properly

try the setting is correct in the headset settings

Try to toggle dev mode off and on seems to help too

Sorry. I gave up for a while. I can use the quest link (via cable) to see and interact with my windows desktop. But I want to backup files from the Q2 to the PC. With SideQuest I can only transfer 1 file at a time and I want to move 600 files. When I connect I get the question "Allow debugging" (I select yes) but I don't get asked "allow access to data". Is this a clue to what might be wrong?
