No longer charges past 97%

ChasingGhosts99
Protege

Ever since the v47 update, my device won't charge past 97%.  The light stays orange.  I have to hard reset the device and even that isn't guaranteed.

Also, some software shows it's installing, but stays that way until, again, I reboot the device.  Why does Oculus have so many issues and why aren't these causght in testing??  Seems to be a standard with Oculus after an update.  Frustrating to say the least.

I am also having this issue, have been noticing it for the last few months and assumed it was the battery on its way out, but given so many reports that I have seen all over reddit, I think it is a software related issue as the numbers seem where the charging cuts out the figures 97% often show up, which was previously the most common number but now for me its more often than not 86 or 87%  and occasionally goes back up to 97% after a number of hard restarts,  but it has only charged up to 100% a couple of times in the last few months now.  Kind of offputting for the quest 3 with the level of bugs.

Hey @ReaperPickle! Thank you for the detailed message and for bringing this to our attention. Having your headset not charge to 100% is certainly a cause for concern. When your playtime is cut short due to low charge on your headset, it can be no fun to have to wait for your headset to charge. We don't want that for you, so let's work together to get you squared away!

If you haven't already, we recommend trying to Factory Reset your headset to see if the issue gets resolved. Below are the steps to do so:

  1. Turn off your headset.
  2. Hold the power and volume (-) button on your headset down simultaneously until the boot screen loads on your headset.
  3. Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Factory Reset and press the power button.
  4. Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Yes and press the power button.

Hope this helps! If the Factory Reset doesn't prove useful, please send us a Private Message, so we can look into this further with you! Please select our name to get to our profile page, or click here. Next, click "Send a Message" to privately message us! Please feel free to ask any other questions or voice your concerns. We look forward to hearing back from you at your earliest convenience!

  • Have you attempted any prior troubleshooting steps?
    • If yes, what has been completed?
  • When the device powers off, what color is the LED light when placed on the charger?
  • Does the device power off if using AirLink while on PCVR?

Hey there @fampraynplay! We know how important important battery life is to gaming, and we'd love to help out the best we can! Battery life can vary depending on how the headset is used, however it should typically last around 2 hours. Can you confirm if the headset is able to get to a full charge? If not, are you using the charger included in the box?

Often times we've seen this issue fixed with a simply software update. Please try the steps below to manually check for software updates:

  1. Press the Oculus button on your right Touch controller to pull up your universal menu.
  2. Hover over the clock on the left side of the universal menu. When Quick Settings appears, select it to open the Quick Settings panel.
  3. Select Settings in the top right corner.
  4. Select System, then select Software Update from the left menu.

Please let us know if you see any improvement!

I'm not sure why your team hasn't resolved this by now.  I started having this issue after v47 and so have numerous other users.  I ended up sending mine in for a refurbished unit.  But, after a few weeks, it did it again but then somehow worked itself out.  So it's not the unit, it's your software.  Why has this issue lasted so long??
