Hi team,
I'm getting micro lags and stutter in Airlink on my Quest 3 (EU/UK), esp. when moving my head. In the Oculus debug overlay this causes brief spikes in transmit/decode, fps drops and visible stuttering. The issue is not present on my Quest Pro with otherwise identical settings - see below screenshots to illustrate.
Few more details:
- Issue is not present on Quest Pro with same settings on HMD, router and PC (using same res)
- Issue is worse at higher bitrates, esp. >200mbps, but still present <200mbps
- Issue is unrelated to PC/game latencies (CPU, GPU, Queue each <5ms)
- Stutters/lags are intermittent (every 10-20 seconds) when not moving but happen immediately and reproducibly when moving the head to either side or especially looking downwards (i.e. on any bigger headset movements)
- Wifi 6E router (TP Link AXE75 EU/UK)
- EDIT: exact same issue with Asus RT-AXE7800 (EU/UK) wifi 6e router
- Connection shows as 2,400mbps
- Airlink codec H264 (but same on other codecs)
- I've attempted factory resetting, installing latest drivers
- Updated to v62 and latest Quest Link desktop version (I can see the 120hz option for my Q3)
- EDIT: Ordered a separate Quest 3 for testing: presents the exact same issue
-EDIT: Same issue on 5ghz 802.11ax 160mhz BUT switching to 802.11ac (!) completely fixed the issue. I cant test this on 6ghz but looks like 802.11ax or something related to how q3 implements it is the culprit
As the issue is worse the higher the bitrate and not present on Q Pro with otherwise same settings, I suspect it's related to the below known Wifi issues - but opening a new thread as instructed.

Best,

Updates:
- Tried separate router: exact same issue with Asus RT-AXE7800 wifi 6e router
- Ordered a separate Quest 3: exact same issue on both routers
-Same issue on 5ghz 802.11ax 160mhz BUT switching to 802.11ac (!) completely fixed the issue. I cant test this on 6ghz but looks like 802.11ax or something related to how q3 implements it is the culprit

I don t know if with previous firmwares the situation was better but the solution can t be change everytime the router channel.

I have long noticed that the picture lags even in the virtual environment of Quest 3 itself. Although in the games themselves everything works perfectly.

I also experimented with the settings on my new router ASUS RT-AX82U and managed to completely eliminate the jumps in the network graph in the oculus debug tool, but this did not help to completely to solve a problem microfreezes when moving my hands and helmet in space. Having now almost perfectly smooth graphics and stable FPS in the game, I still can’t get smooth gameplay.

This has surprisingly gotten worse for me since v62 over the last few weeks, the spikes are becoming worse 😞

Today, in a local community of 12 thousand people, we managed to find out that all owners of Quest 3 have these microfreezes. Even those who previously wrote that everything was fine with them, after carrying out the right tests, noticed the problem and now can no longer ignore it . ) A lot of people wrote that the problem exists. So I can safely assume that it is global and available in all headsets with the latest updates.

It's getting pretty rediculous tbh, in terms of no comm from Dev at all on this... It's not like it's a few users. This is pretty much a global issue.

Quest Version: 63.0.0.326.363.576419514
PC App Version: 62.0.0.235.346
No PTC on either device.
No workarounds so far.
Issue is persisting with Quest 3. No issues on Quest 2 using same network/PC.
Asus RT-AX82U on latest firmware 3.0.0.4.388_24232

I have tried 75-200Mbps, issue persist with any bitrate. All default settings otherwise.

I have the same router with the latest firmware as you. Tell me, how did you manage to install a separate AC mode?

If you disable AX/Wifi 6 in settings it reverts to AC. 1st screenshot is with AX/Wifi 6 disabled, 2nd is AX Only enabled.
@TheAntiSocializer Quest Link app on PC just updated to v63.0.0.216.361 . Let's see how it goes!
