Hi team,
I'm getting micro lags and stutter in Airlink on my Quest 3 (EU/UK), esp. when moving my head. In the Oculus debug overlay this causes brief spikes in transmit/decode, fps drops and visible stuttering. The issue is not present on my Quest Pro with otherwise identical settings - see below screenshots to illustrate.
Few more details:
- Issue is not present on Quest Pro with same settings on HMD, router and PC (using same res)
- Issue is worse at higher bitrates, esp. >200mbps, but still present <200mbps
- Issue is unrelated to PC/game latencies (CPU, GPU, Queue each <5ms)
- Stutters/lags are intermittent (every 10-20 seconds) when not moving but happen immediately and reproducibly when moving the head to either side or especially looking downwards (i.e. on any bigger headset movements)
- Wifi 6E router (TP Link AXE75 EU/UK)
- EDIT: exact same issue with Asus RT-AXE7800 (EU/UK) wifi 6e router
- Connection shows as 2,400mbps
- Airlink codec H264 (but same on other codecs)
- I've attempted factory resetting, installing latest drivers
- Updated to v62 and latest Quest Link desktop version (I can see the 120hz option for my Q3)
- EDIT: Ordered a separate Quest 3 for testing: presents the exact same issue
-EDIT: Same issue on 5ghz 802.11ax 160mhz BUT switching to 802.11ac (!) completely fixed the issue. I cant test this on 6ghz but looks like 802.11ax or something related to how q3 implements it is the culprit
As the issue is worse the higher the bitrate and not present on Q Pro with otherwise same settings, I suspect it's related to the below known Wifi issues - but opening a new thread as instructed.

Best,

Updates:
- Tried separate router: exact same issue with Asus RT-AXE7800 wifi 6e router
- Ordered a separate Quest 3: exact same issue on both routers
-Same issue on 5ghz 802.11ax 160mhz BUT switching to 802.11ac (!) completely fixed the issue. I cant test this on 6ghz but looks like 802.11ax or something related to how q3 implements it is the culprit

A firmware update introduced the issue and an update should be able to resolve it. Plz make sure to post the requested info so the support team can dig into it!

I'm now getting the same problem. My games stutter randomly. It's difficult to measure, but i would say it stutters and drops around 5fps at least 4-5 times per beatsaber song (so around 3 minutes). It doesn't matter if i run the game at 90fps or 120fps, the drops are the same (120 drops to 115, 90 drops to 85).
I upgraded to a AXE5400 wifi 6e router yesterday. Started to get stuttering which wasn't an issue on my old 5ghz Unifi UAP. Tried absolutely everything i could research until i stumbled on this thread. I isolated the router and my PC to a separate network with the PC directly linked to the router so nothing in between could be questioned about wiring or other devices interfering. Made no difference.
What made an impact was using same test as OP which was switching to 5ghz 802.11ac instead of ax (and avoiding 6ghz). This removed pretty much all of the stuttering i was experiencing. I repeated the test a few times by switching between 6ghz and 5ghz on the same router and the outcome was the same so it has to be in relation to this. The main difference is that i'm using Virtual Desktop but as you can see from below, the GPU and CPU are far from being stressed out. I've been running on this PC for months without issue. It all seems to have come about with a router upgrade and v62 - hard to tell if one, the other or both.

Looking at the game, I can guess that this is probably a gun fighting game, one of my favorite games

I was having several issues with wifi, such as random disconnects. I was also unable to play PCVR games over Virtual Desktop, or Air Link. I was using 5GHz in AX mode on an Asus GT-AX11000 Pro, and even went out and bought a new Wifi 6E router TP-Link AXE95/AXE7800 to see if that made any difference. I tried using 6GHz at that point and still had the issue. Did tons of googling and nothing worked. Found this thread and switched back to 5GHz and disabled AX and have it on AC, and now things seem to finally be working. Annoying, but glad to have what seems to be a smooth experience. Will do some more testing over the next couple days but hopefully that did the trick!

I only have the 5ghz and 2.4 available to my orbi. I cannot disable the 2.4 as it's used for devices that must stay connected. Would this be what's causing my problem? Or should is there a way to disable ax on the quest itself?

Try moving your head fast side to side, my Quest 3 just went crazy, although on quest 2 it is butter smooth, and I can`t believe it is not butter...

I tried everything. The only thing that works for me is to use Wi-Fi analyzer on Pc to find the best channel and change in router settings. It s not confortable and i hope they will find a upgrade to solve this issue.

Hello
1. 63.0.0.326.363.576419514
2.62.0.0.235.346
3. No. For testing if it fixes problem, but no help so reverted back.
4.Yes. For testing if it fixes problem. Reverted back but no update yet so probably still in PTC
5.Tested active 5m USB3.2 Gen2 cable and it worked flawlessly, but would prefer Airlink
6.It only happens on Quest 3. I am still amazed how smooth is runs on Quest 2.
7.Asus RT-AX55 Wifi 6
8. Dedicated free 5ghz channel only for Quest, 802.11ax, 80Mhz,
9. 250mbps
9.1 Almost all of them.
Kind of sad that I have to use 3rd Party software to automatically punch them in every time. Does have the function to set Debug settings per game or application. Oculus Tray Tool is the name and it is outdated so works sometimes. If Meta could implement something similar that would be cool.
10. Ryzen 7 3800x, Nvidia GTX 1080, Win 10. Yes meets req.

Tested out a 5m Active USB 3.2 Gen 2 Cable today on the Quest 3. And it works flawlessly with 35-45ms App to Photon latency. Thought I am so used to Airlink that it was very hard to settle with pushing and pulling of the cable. I will probably end up still using Quest 2 wirelessly until fixed. Let me know if I can help somehow @TheAntiSocializer
