Hi team,
I'm getting micro lags and stutter in Airlink on my Quest 3 (EU/UK), esp. when moving my head. In the Oculus debug overlay this causes brief spikes in transmit/decode, fps drops and visible stuttering. The issue is not present on my Quest Pro with otherwise identical settings - see below screenshots to illustrate.
Few more details:
- Issue is not present on Quest Pro with same settings on HMD, router and PC (using same res)
- Issue is worse at higher bitrates, esp. >200mbps, but still present <200mbps
- Issue is unrelated to PC/game latencies (CPU, GPU, Queue each <5ms)
- Stutters/lags are intermittent (every 10-20 seconds) when not moving but happen immediately and reproducibly when moving the head to either side or especially looking downwards (i.e. on any bigger headset movements)
- Wifi 6E router (TP Link AXE75 EU/UK)
- EDIT: exact same issue with Asus RT-AXE7800 (EU/UK) wifi 6e router
- Connection shows as 2,400mbps
- Airlink codec H264 (but same on other codecs)
- I've attempted factory resetting, installing latest drivers
- Updated to v62 and latest Quest Link desktop version (I can see the 120hz option for my Q3)
- EDIT: Ordered a separate Quest 3 for testing: presents the exact same issue
-EDIT: Same issue on 5ghz 802.11ax 160mhz BUT switching to 802.11ac (!) completely fixed the issue. I cant test this on 6ghz but looks like 802.11ax or something related to how q3 implements it is the culprit
As the issue is worse the higher the bitrate and not present on Q Pro with otherwise same settings, I suspect it's related to the below known Wifi issues - but opening a new thread as instructed.

Best,

Updates:
- Tried separate router: exact same issue with Asus RT-AXE7800 wifi 6e router
- Ordered a separate Quest 3: exact same issue on both routers
-Same issue on 5ghz 802.11ax 160mhz BUT switching to 802.11ac (!) completely fixed the issue. I cant test this on 6ghz but looks like 802.11ax or something related to how q3 implements it is the culprit

So it's been a while since my last post, but I can say without a doubt that v66 resolved the issue I was seeing. Since then I've been getting rock solid 2400mbps performance on my Quest3 using the Puppis S1 router.
Not sure what you guys did, but thanks a ton! Ghosts of Tabor on PCVR is where its at!

I too have had reasonably good performance since v66. It should be noted that the Puppis is a 5GHz router, so I'm not sure the issue is resolved for wifi 6E. Unfortunately, those of us living in apartments generally can't get a clear or full-width 5GHz channel block suitable for VR, so the Puppis can't help us.

Sorry about the slow af reply, work had me away from home.
So I have a router working as an access point, and then a CAT6 cable to my pc.
In this set up, my occlusion lags so hard that it is barely playable.
If I have my computer not hooked up via the ethernet cable, but instead wifi to the same access point, the lag disappears and games run smoothly

So... to my surprise, I have been enjoying pcvr wirelessly with zero issues for the past week. But you might not like the solution. I've built a new AM5 PC with high-end components (7800X3D, RTX4080S) and all my connectivity issues went away. At the time of the post I was using AM4 (5600, RTX4080S). Now I'm able to have 399mbps bandwith even with the Beryl in repeater mode with no issues whatsoever. In my case it definitely proves there was nothing wrong with the quest itself or the router.

Sorry, this proves nothing, i have had weeks of perfect pcvr with my hardware, then problems started, then they went away for a week , then they came back which is where i'm at right now, the only thing that has changed in my setup is my isp, i was with bt , changed to virgin media, than bang back to micro stutters. my isp should have no bearing on the micro stutters. The only thing left for me to do is switch my quest 3 from wifi 6 back to 5 to see if that resolves the issue which i will be attempting this weekend.
Edit:> What o/s is everyone running on? Wondering if this is an issue with windows 11.

Well that is disconcerting. I also changed ISP temporarily, but like you said, I can confirm this has nothing to do with it since I also tested it without any Internet connection and still worked flawlesly.
PS: I stole you signature 😝 and mentioned my OS. On the old system it was still Windows 11 but Enterprise and not up to date.

Hopefully you have it sorted and all is well and doesn't revert back to stuttering, fingers crossed for you.

Had a question for you... actually I did post this on reddit as well in r/OculusQuest.
This is having to do with you hour network / router is setup. Do you have a dedicated VR streaming router, or just use your main home one?

My post -
Would like a clarification on this, I am currently using AXE5400 TP link wifi 6e router as my main router for Quest 3
Its directly connected to my PC
Quest 3 is the only device on wifi6e SSID
Rest of the devices are using 5ghz wifi6 SSID
This router is in the play space (2m away from me) and i am still getting stutters and network lags when playing via AirLink or VD
I have an older Dlink router, which I can setup as a main router and wire it to Axe5400 (which will be setup as an Access point and connected to my PC via Wire and Wifi6e to Quest 3) ...
Will this give me any advantage? As in - are other devices which are connected to my AXE5400 via Wifi6 - 5ghz taking up resources?

I have honestly tried all the above. I have wifi 6, 6e, and a brand new wifi 7 router. I have tried using dedicated routers and just trying all the different technologies. I haven't tried after the latest patch, but the issue was still prevalent a month or so ago.
I also have the issue where my headset refuses to see most 6gh routers. I found I have one I can get it to see, but the rest are a no go.
Btw, 6ghz didn't fix the issue either
