Not receiving verification code via SMS to set up 2FA for developer mode/still not verified

I have typed my phone number in correctly many times when it prompted me to, but whenever it said it was sending the code to my phone that I needed complete setting up two factor authentication it would never send. No matter how many times I've tried or other ways I typed my phone number, I would never receive the code. Setting up 2FA with my authenticator app worked fine but for some reason I'm still not able to create an organization to enable Dev Mode on my Quest 2. Do I need both my phone and my Authenticator app linked in order to be verified and gain access to creating an organization and entering Dev Mode on my Quest 2?

Well, I just solved my own problem.  I have to ADD a credit card to my account.  Once I did that, everything verified!  The instructions clearly state "either a credit card OR text message 2FA".  Yeah, right!  Meta, you've got some corrections to make!!!

I have the same issue, the provided solutions did not work.

Hello! Finally I used a line in the USA from Twilio and received the SMS. It's not working with lines from other countries, apparently.

 have the same issue and not using any VPN or private browser. I've tried with different phone numbers or typing at different hours but nothing evere arrived. I need help to get the developer mode!!!

So, after the email support team was unable to help me and told me it was not responsible anyways, I finally figured out a solution that worked for me. I had to confirm my phone number using facebook on my mobile phone. Maybe this will help you too:

  • log into FB using your phone (I used my mobile browser. Doing this on a desktop pc does _not_ work)
  • Then basically follow this guide to set up sms notifications: Settings>preferences>notifications>enable sms notifications
  • Add a phone number and confirm it

All of this worked as described for me. In my case, the phone number was already there, it just said it was unconfirmed. After confirming it, the next time I opened the creation process for the developer account, it did not ask me to confirm my phone number anymore. Two clicks later the account was ready to use.
