It seems that many people that have bought the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 GPU (to run the Meta Quest 3 VR headset) are having compatibility problems with the PC Oculus Software app. The Oculus software says that it "doesn't meet minimum requirements" when in fact it exceeds minimum requirements. I've been working with meta support team since January 3rd and still haven't resolved the problem. They have been helpful but it seems that we keep going around in a circle trying the same things over and over again, much like a dog chasing it's tail. Some of the useful Meta support items that they had me do are:
- updated the drivers on: a new Asus Intel I9 CPU gaming motherboard, the BIOS, the RTX 4070 GPU
- the Oculus app has been updated in beta mode (seems to be important)
- Forced the PC Oculus Software app to the "Preferred Graphics Processor" to the High-performance Nvidia 4070 Processor { Settings >System>Display>Graphics add the OcuclusClient.exe file, click Options box & select High Performance GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40470, click save }
- determined that most USB 3.0 link cables sold are in fact USB 2.0 cable. Meta Link requires a minimum USB 3.0 cable connection, so unless the description says it is a 3.0 or 3.2 cable assume it is a 2.0 cable. I purchased a USB 3.2 cable for Quest 3 VR from a local high end computer store for $34.00 and it now works without the Oculus warning "USB 2" message. Meta's cable is $110.00. (PC must have USB 3.2 ports for the cable)
So, the problem has not yet been resolved. I think the Oculus app is using the RTX 4070 GPU. Is it using it at it's full potential or has it been downgraded? No one knows.

Yeah, I think it might be a Nvidia driver problem. Swapping GPUs all I did was update driver and install in a different slot. When I couldn't get sound to work, I re-installed the old GPU in its original slot, but had deleted my old driver without checking which version I had been running. Couldn't get the sound to work on the old GPU so it seems the updated driver is the only difference. I mean, I could be wrong about that, but the driver is the only think I know I couldn't revert back to.

i don't think it's nvidia problem.. i litteraly tried everything possible
reinstalling the oculus software (cleaning all cache and folders)
tried to disable all bios usb power saving/ cpu clock/ ErP/ and other sleep things
tried to put oculus software in beta
tried to update driver/downgrade/ changing from studio to game-ready drivers and viceversa,
tried all windows settings (power saving, usb power shutdown, usb drivers, uninstalling/reinstalling usb drivers/devices, regedit things, cmd commands and others, updating windows and checking for it.
debloating ( also the older pc was debloated) and disable all useless software ( also the win defender and the firewall just to try)
tried to unplug all usb (keyboard, mouse, webcam, controller, mixer exc) while trying the rift s
restarting oculus services, trying to plug the rift s with console enabled (in console i have a lot of red strings)
tried running oculus software with administator privileges
tried disabling and enabling xmp from bios (mine is called D.O.C.P.)
i think its meta fault and they don't give a fvck about this problem

Yes
I hear aegis
time to take to X I think
I would like an honest response from support for once. Sick of being given the runaround.
I develop for VR, this is my job. I depend on a reliable platform that is honest and realistic of their is an issue
There is clearly a problem and Meta support lack of honesty is unacceptable.

This is incredibly annoying. I got work to buy this laptop with RTX 4070 thinking it will be a beast for VR dev only to find out that is not compatible? what does that even mean? who doesn't include advanced graphic cards likes the 4000 series in this support? No for real though? Most developer want to buy these beefy cards to be future proof only so Meta says no stick to old cards?

At least have the decency to remove the 4070 from the link so people do make the same mistake, go invest in a new machine that you guys don't support!

Your comment dates back to Feb, we are almost in July. This says alot about your commitment. You guys didn't even remove the 4070 from your supported hardware list. Hence, I am a victim of this misinformation and currently stuck with a laptop that I can't use for development.

Please remove this as a solution the problem still exists. updating does not fix it. I have a 4070 with an i9 processor. factory reset the oculus 2 connected it with a cable and still cannot open apps

I have privately messaged you guys Sent 2 sets of logs. followed the below instructions. and have been ghosted no one is getting back to me
Message from Meta
Thank you for getting back to us.
I really appreciate you providing your Oculus log files. Also, I would like to thank you for initiating some troubleshooting steps on your end. It is a great help. Allow me to assist you further.
After reviewing the log files provided, I've seen that your PC has two GPUs that might affect connecting your headset to the PC. Due to that, please perform the following troubleshooting steps below:
You can use Windows to manually assign which GPU is used by a specific process. This should have little to no side effects. To do so:
If the issue still persists, please provide me with your updated Oculus Log files for me to further review.

So, I want to buy a new GPU. But can anyone reply me if the Gtx4070 is working perfectly with Quest 3 now?

Sadly things are still not working with my RTX 4070
I had a driver update from meta in the questlink app a few days ago and updated the Nvidia rtx driver-- high hopes!-- but no joy-- still getting 'Your system's graphics card is not compatible with Rift system software...' message in red banner. Questlink connects but runs like a dog-- Half-life Alyx complains it has not enough video memory. I have implemented every support suggestion they have suggested over dozens of interactions by email-- many of them repeating what has already been suggested by support personel two or three emails back. Very frustrating!
