I had no issue September 13th 2023, September 14th 2023 I entered my pin got to the home screen and saw Facebook reels randomly popping up so I know some kind of an update happened because I would never see anything like that in the past. I then went to my apps and chose beat saber, the game started and then the screen went blank even though I could still hear the music and I could tell my controllers were still connected.
I did a reboot , same results. I actually did multiple reboots with the same results. I did hard reboots with the volume - key, same results. I tried a different game, same results. I did the boot to the bootloader and tried from there, same results which are black screen, you have sound, the controllers are obviously working because you can hear them, but blank screen so you can't see anything. I put the system away because I was really becoming frustrated and then today picked it up to try again and did the factory reset which is something that every single person has said does not work but yet support tells everyone to do.
Ridiculous, it doesn't work for anything, I don't know why you people are telling people to do it. But I did it like an idiot and now who knows what screen it's even going to because I can't see anything at all still so that was a total waste of time and it's going to be a serious waste of time to set everything up again when and if this thing is finally resolved. It is obvious from the new information on the home screen when you first log in that it was an update sent down automatically that caused this to happen.
The day before on Wednesday I had a normal start screen, the next day it's the Facebook reels and then all this trouble started. I purchased the Oculus to help me decompress after a long day at work. I play a little beat saber and do a little less Mills and that's pretty much it with the occasional something or other game thrown in there but I'm not very good at all of this but I do enjoy it tremendously.
I don't have anyone else using my headset or controllers, I live in a single person household, there was no damage done to anything and the only thing that changed is the update that occurred after Wednesday when I last used the Oculus Quest 2.
The irony of purchasing this device so that I could decompress after a long day at work only to be even more frustrated because you're developers throw down and update that completely broke my Oculus and apparently did the same to many other people. This is outrageous, where is the quality control and testing? How do I go about getting this resolved?
Sunday
Where I am today after factory resetting from the USB Update mode menu:
The Oculus starts up as normal, I see the Meta symbol bright as always.
It may or may not show the bubbles but the screen goes blank pretty quickly after the Meta symbol.
I can hear the sounds/music perfectly for as long as I have the headset on, no display is showing at all.
The clear and viewable Meta symbol and the USB Update mode screens would appear to indicate this is not a device screen issue as those pieces are always viewable. Also, the screen isn't black, it is gray, like on but with no display. When I fully turn the Q2 off, then it goes fully black.
Again, this started after the last time successfully using the game, which would have been 9/13, then on 9/14 it booted normal but this time to a facebook reels video which I had never seen before, and each boot after that during troubleshooting also booted to fb reel screens. At this point I was able to start various games but they always went blank after a very short time, so no video but I could here the music and sounds without issue.

Hey there, @Babsy.Wabsy. Thank you for reaching out and bringing up your issues with the headset going grey after a short time. We know that something like this is less than ideal for a headset to do this, especially when you are just starting to get into your game. Not to worry, we would like go ahead and lend a hand to help out. We see that you have done quite a bit of troubleshooting already, however, we wanted to make sure a few things were done as well.
Have you cleaned the sensors?
Make sure there are no obstructions or lights coming in through the facial interface.
What version is your headset on?
