Oculus 2 problems after update

I got my Oculus 2 from Dave and Busters.  I opened it, charged it and turned it on.  I signed in to my wifi.  Then it went straight to updating the system.  After the first update it restarted.  Then it went to a screen that had a chip looking icon with a green loading bar underneath.  When it finally finished, it went to a blank screen.  It just stayed there.... for hours.  I then forced it to turn off and then turned it back on.  it did that same exact thing.  3 more times.  Then I researched online and I  found that I could factory reset it and start fresh.  So, I did.  Then, when it finished erasing.  It went back to the same loading screen with the green bar... and exactly the same thing.  So, I moved the USB-C cord over to my laptop and thought if I did a "sideload" update maybe it would finish.  When I selected it, it turned off the headset, and now it will not turn back on.  It won't do ANYTHING.  Please help.

I have exactly the same issue.

Hi, Rayman85.69

Thanks for letting us know that your are also facing this issue.

There are some troubleshooting steps we would recommend you to try:

  1. Attempt to charge the headset for 2 hours. The headset must be left powered off or in a sleep state during this time.

If trying to charge from a computer, take note of the following:

  • Computers typically provide less power than outlets and may require more time to charge.
  • If the you are using an adapter, the port type being used may provide even less power than the USB-C port that is typically used for charging and Link cables.
  • Computers may also stop charging peripherals if the peripheral is completely powered off (causing the computer to not recognize the presence of the device), or if the computer itself goes into a sleep state. This is dependent on the port, motherboard, BIOS settings (not all of which may be visible in every BIOS) and USB power settings. BIOS settings vary between computer models, so we cannot help with these.
  • While in use, the headset will typically consume more power than the computer port can provide, resulting in the battery charge decreasing over time. The headset must be off or in a low power (sleep) state to charge.

 2. Try a different Cable/Charger; if possible, test the cable and charger (adapter) separately to determine the faulty component.

  • If a known good Cable or Charger resolves the issue, no further troubleshooting is required. Check the Warranty Guidelines for warranty coverage on the accessory.

       3. Attempt to charge the headset without the facial interface. Some facial interfaces may block the proximity sensor which can impact the power of the headset.

       4. If you are using the Elite Strap with Battery or any third-party accessories that may affect battery charging or consume power (such as external battery packs, external fans, etc.) Please disconnect the Elite Strap with Battery or            any third-party accessories and try charging the headset again.

       5. Try charging from a different Source (another PC or different wall outlet).

       6. Have you spilled liquids on the headset?

Please let us know if that worked for you, if it did not then please message us directly.

We look forward to hearing from you!

I chatted with the meta quest support and they're saying it's a warranty issue.  Because I got it from D&B they're asking for proof of "redemption" as a form of Proof of Purchase, because if you have exactly the same issue we didn't get to "activate" our system for them to even see that the one we're in ownership of was actually started.

If you have already got in contract with our dedicated email team, keep responding to them and they will get your issue resolved.

While waiting on our email team, if you have any other questions or concerns then let us know!

Hello. I have the same problem as you. After the update, the VR went black. When turning it on, it showed the LOGO and a computer chip with a green progress bar. Now it can't be turned on, can't be charged, and the indicator light doesn't come on. All of these are caused by this update. Is it broken? Why is there such a big bug? Can the VR be fixed? I'm asking the technical staff to give me a reply.

Still need help?
