Oculus 3 issues with microphone

JustPlainBarb
Honored Guest

So i just recently bought the Oculus 3 and the microphone is unacceptably quiet.. nobody can hear me properly.. yes I have permissions set otherwise no sound would come out at all.. unless I scream, nobody hears me.. I have had Oculus 1 and 2 with no issues... I hear everyone else just fine, they use oculus 2.. but nobody hears me.  Do I just keep returning the headset until I luck out with one that actually works or is there some kind of fix.. $500+ for a malfunctioning headset is unacceptable.  Please help, on 3rd headset now and tired of returning them every few days so I don't get screwed with an overpriced paperweight.

Hello there! It seems like you're facing some difficulties with your microphone on your Quest 3. We apologize for the inconvenience and want to make sure you have a smooth experience. Don't worry, we're here to help you out! Could you please let us know which software version you're currently using? Additionally, we have some troubleshooting steps for you to try:

1. Ensure that the microphone is clean and free from any obstructions.

2. Test the microphone with multiple games/apps. If the issue occurs only in one specific game/app, please check the game/app permissions to ensure that the microphone is enabled.

3. Reset the microphone by going to Settings > System > Sound > Toggle Microphone.

4. Reboot your headset.

5. If the problem persists, you can perform a factory reset.

Please give these steps a try and let us know if any of them have resolved the issue for you. We're here to assist you further!

The exact same thing is happening with my quest 3 headset too. And I’ve seen a few threads on here talking about it. It happens on every app, I’ve done a factory reset. The only thing that seems to fix the issue is if I cover up the mic in the front of the headset (between the outside cameras) then the main mic picks up my voice without issue. That’s not a real fix though. Frustrating that such an expensive purchase would be having issues like this.

I have the same issue with my one month old Oculus 3. In playing games people say that they can't hear me or can barely hear me even though I have the volume turned up to the second from the highest level. However in having the volume turned up that high the music of the game hurts my ears. I sure hope meta comes out with some kind of software fix for this because the headset is far too high priced to have this kind of a malfunction.

  • Could you please let us know what software version your headset is currently under?

Yes it is still too quiet, people cannot hear me in games unless I have my microphone volume turned all the way up, how can I fix this? I am not recommending to other people that they get in Oculus 3 with this issue, some even make fun of you for purchasing an Oculus 3 because of this defect.
