Oculus Go: Failed Entitlement Check

As the title says. Recently I get this message, "Failed Entitlement Check" when I launch the app Virtual Desktop Streamer.  I have owned the app for years.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the App

Factory reset the The Oculus

Even Launched the app from the phone app

All with the same results.

I have also noticed that the app store will not load on the Oculus. It looks like it tries to start but then shuts down right away.

I realize this is a very old device but any help is appreciated.

Thanks

This part is the real kicker:

"You will still be able to download new apps and continue using your existing apps as long as they are supported by the developer."

This puts the entire responsibility on the developers to maintain and update versions that Meta no longer supports. So when we have to update software to accommodate for changes they make to their current software or hardware hooks, we ALSO have to maintain and make updates to older versions to accommodate any f*ckery they pull on older devices or be in violation of our user agreements. This is such terrible business that I can't fathom how these decisions were made, but I guess they're relying on garbage devs putting out garbage apps that include no responsibility in their TOS to keep them afloat, effectively changing the software world into the same kind of disposable consumerism popular in the retail world.

For a company that's claimed to want to embody the future of VR, they are preemptively dooming it.

As long as they don't then do what they did with the Go: block developers from updating anything. The Go was discontinued in June 2020. Then in December 2020 developers could no longer release updates to their apps (we were warned in June, but its still a pretty short time).

Same problem here. I'm not a frequent user of my Oculus Go, but I still like to play a game now and then. Until now! Even the default apps aren't working anymore.

I get it's an old device. Would it be broken, I probably would by a new headset. But now... why should I buy a new one with maybe the same "discontinued service" in a few years?

Everyone who is affected by this file a complaint in California with the BBB.  Tell your friends so we can get a class action suit going.

Agreed. We paid for these apps and ending support should not end its ability to operate on the older apps. This needs to be fixed.

It has been a few weeks. What are the latest updates on a fix for this issue? We paid for these apps. You can't just turn them off. Please let us know what is being done to rectify the issue. You mentioned transparency, an update is warranted. Thanks.

Just adding another cry into the wind about this! Support just went round in circles and never actually told me it was dead for good…

Это наглое воровство денег , купил приложение , а оно не работает , просто взяли и своровали наши деньги и превратили все гарнитуры окулус в мусор. Я в шоке !!!! Забота об экологии (((

At least you live in Germany, you might have legal ability to recover the amount you paid for the games via the EU. In the US it will be triciker but I still anticipate a class action suit.
