Had my Oculus for several years now. After the Meta upgrade, I got the three dots, which I finally fixed by trying to cast the video through the app.
Today, I got the three dots again and my previous remedy didn't work. I finally did a factory reset with the volume and power buttons, and now the device won't pair with my phone. I was wanting to upgrade to a newer model, but the cost is prohibitive, especially when I'm losing confidence in the company's product.
"You will own nothing and be happy." This is how they do it. Sell you a device for big money that won't work without a connection to the central scrutinizer.
How about some help Meta Support? I keep seeing the same canned reply to others with the same problem. I tried "shaking the phone" at the point I had trouble, as instructed in the help section, to no avail. And I get an error when I try to start a new report.
Same here, 2 Oculus Gos and a Quest 1 now not linking to my phone app after their latest update. Ridiculous. Spent hours trying to factory reset, resync, sideload, still no pairing with the meta phone app. They broke something with their latest update.
Ah, so I'm not alone with this. My Oculus Go just died after it asked Meta upgrade (3 dots of death). I did a factory reset and now it won't pair with my phone anymore.
And the same as you are, I was planning to buy newer Quest product (Quest Pro or Quest 3?). Since I have Rift S and Quest 2 too. But since seeing how they kill old products by bricked them, I think I starting to losing my trust with Oculus (now Meta).
Oculus < > Meta Those old sweet VR days has gone. No more ethic on their business. If you already discontinued support to an old product, why bother to sent us an assassin update? why not leave that old device alone?
My Oculus Go actually rarely been use, after using Quest 2. I only using it to introduce VR to some younger fellows (my nephew and my friend's kids). But I'm still get upset to seeing how they kill Oculus Go and Oculus Quest 1 with this way.
I was told by Meta support their engineers are working on fixing the issue we are all having
