Oculus Home/Interface stuck in endless loading loop (Using Oculus CV1 Headset).

I'm using Oculus CV1 and just trying to put my headset on and enter the Home screen/interface. And it's stuck loading in an endless loop. It's been doing this for 3 straight days now. I heard since v76 Oculus Link is broken. And some Meta Quest 3 users are having the same issue as well.

What is going on Oculus' end? Can you guys please fix this. I have been using this CV1 for 7+ years now. Its worked fine for years why all of a sudden is there so many issues. I mean, I can't even get into the home screen!!

Hi @legaiaflame

We see you're stuck in quite the bind!  Below are a few tips that you can try to attempt to resolve this loop.

Repair Oculus Link

  1. Download and run the Link app installation software (meta.com/quest/setup/)
  2. You will see a screen which says, "Already Installed"
  3. Click the "Repair" option and confirm again on the next screen

Reinstall Oculus Link

  1. Disconnect the Rift/Link cable from the computer
  2. Disconnect your computer from the internet
  3. Backup any necessary content
  4. Reboot into Safe Mode
  5. Uninstall the Meta Quest Link app using the Control Panel
  6. Delete all Oculus folders from the following folder:
    • C:\Program Files
  7. Remove any Oculus folders from the following locations:
    • C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData
    • C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData\Local
    • C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData\LocalLow
    • C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData\Roaming
    • C:\OculusSetup-DownloadCache
    • Note: The AppData folder is usually hidden. Use these steps to access AppData.
      1. Press Windows key + R to launch the Run dialog window.
      2. Type %AppData% in the Run box and click OK or press Enter
      3. File Explorer will launch to the AppData\Roaming subfolder.
      4. Click AppData in the File Explorer address bar to show all three subfolders in the AppData location.
  8. Restart your computer in normal mode
  9. Reconnect your computer to the internet
  10. Install the Link app again using the setup tool from our website here
  11. Reconnect the Rift/Link cable and re-test the headset

None of this works. It takes 5 to 7 minutes to load the Oculus Home/Interface. All Oculus Meta Quest 3 users who use Oculus Link and older headsets like Oculus CV1 and Rift S are having the same issue. It is on your end. You have to fix the software in the next update.

Link was working fine for 7+ years so the new update broke something. You guys need to figure out what broke Link and fix it.

For a temp fix that might not always work you can:

Go to task manager and services and stop the "Oculus VR Runtime Service", then start it again. Oculus will open straight away and you can connect like normal. But, you have to do this each time you boot up your PC. So, in no way is this a permanent solution and might not even work for some users.
