Oculus Link Incompatible GPU

P3arTV

Hello! I'm wondering if there's a way to trick the Oculus App into thinking you have a different GPU than the one i already have.

A few things before you respond:
1) I don't care how slow it will run. I just want it to run. It can give me 30 or 25 FPS for all I care.

2) I don't care how hard it is to do, i'll do it.

Please read point 1) before responding. I've seen the "But it will run in X frames and you won't like it" or "Your computer is too slow just don't bother"
Well i don't care. I just want to try it.

EDIT: For all the people wondering, no, i don't have a Potato pc. I am well aware what is needed to run VR. I wouldn't try it on a 650M (I did, but shut up me)

EDIT 2: I have contacted Oculus Support, and basically they just said "You don't have a supported GPU. Can't help ya. Bye"

EDIT 3: Please don't respond if you were thinking to say: "jUsT Get a rifT" or "jUSt GEt a BeTtEr GpU"
Not all people are made of money. Especially those from a country with a low GPU. I can afford to get a Quest, but i can't a Quest AND new GPU / Computer

The incompatibility isn't arbitrary. It's usually because the video encoder isn't capable.

I don't think the difference between Nvidia GPU's is that big. I have a 1050. No, not the mobile

It is if its a laptop

Don't have a Laptop

Ok is it an Original Link Cable from Oculus ? and are your graphics drivers upto date  , you need to tells us what pc you have , gpu , ram etc , also type the error into google and see what happens .
Also good luck .

1) Not an original link cable, because i bought it before the official ones came out. however, i know that the cable works. I've looked specifficaly for a cable that people said works. It's a cable matters or something from Amazon. 3 meters long i believe.
2) GPU drivers are all up to date. I've tried updating them and then trying but i get the same thing.
4) I don't have a specific model. It's made by me. It has a 1050, 16 gigs of ram, Intel I7 7700hq CPU, can't remember exactly what motherboard or power source, i have a 250 SSD card and a 1tb hard-drive, but the hard drive doesn't matter for this, as the app is installed on the SSD
5) Not an error. It just says that my GPU isn't compatible and doesn't even let me try to start the Link.

i got the quest link to work on the 1060 3gb gpu,  keep in mind the list they post for gpus not supported just is that the gpu is unsupported.

Honestly the best way to look at it is to look at the specific titles you want to play, some don't have a lot of high res shaders, and textures.

For me it litteraly doesn't work. It doesn't even let me turn on the Link. I press the button for the link and then the app shoves a message in my face that says something like "Unsupported GPU or something"

Sorry but with even with a desktop gtx1050 gpu this just ain't going to work with Link mate.  Minimum supported desktop gpu is a 1060 6Gb.

A desktop 1060 6Gb is about 2x more powerful than a 1050.

Edit; Actually Link requires a better gpu than dedicated PCVR headsets like the Rift S (which still will not work with a 1050 btw) because Link requires extra gpu resources to compress date before sending it to the headset via usb.  So for decent Link performance I suggest you look at a gtx 1070 or better.

Please read everything i said in my original post.
I do not care how slow it will run. I just want to try it. It can run at 20 or 25 FPS for all i care.
And i know this post was made before i edited my original comment but this is what i said there: I can't just get a better GPU. I don't have the money for a GPU and a Quest.

I fully understand all that mate.  Unfortunately until you can afford a much better gpu you are just going to have to be happy with Quest standalone mobile VR.  Still a lot of fun imho.

Exactly what I want! At first I wanted to play Cooking Simulator VR through Link with my incompatible laptop, until I found out that it was releasing on the Oculus Store natively. So now I want to get Roblox VR to work on there, but it's incompatible for a game that runs about 4 million frames per second on my laptop (figuratively, in reality it's like 60-100fps).
