also whenever I try to use the mic that is built in the quest headset it does not work and will only work after I restart the oculus. this could be because it is connected to my pc but Idk. if someone could explain to me what to do that would be great

Can confirm I played Population One with a Quest 1 USB2 cable and people could hear me fine.  I also play with a headset plugged into my Quest 2 that has a microphone.

I see in the video about selecting you Default Device microphone under recording devices in Windows under sound settings.  I have been used to doing this for some time now from when I would disable the microphone.

Wanted to comment since I had no issues and that was before I got the Link cable. Curious if the problem continues after you select your default recording device to be 'Oculus Virtual Audio Device' from your Recording tab.

Problem I'm having, perhaps will be helpful for someone. For some reason, MIC will not work with link unless I turn on WIFI for oculus.

The voice recorder method works pretty well, but I find it to be kind of a hassle to do it every time I want to use Oculus Link. I found a more permanent solution, at least until it is officially fixed in an Oculus Link update. I searched "change system sounds" in the Windows search bar, and then went over to the recording tab. I then right clicked "Oculus Virtual Audio Device" and went to properties. Then, I went to the listen tab and checked the box labeled "Listen to this device." This will make it so that any sound going through your microphone will be played through the speakers on your Oculus Quest. Once you have that box checked, change the playback device in the drop down menu to something that isn't your Oculus Quest. Make sure that Oculus Link is not enabled while you do these steps, but if it is, just restart Oculus Link. This method worked for me so hopefully it works for everyone else that has this problem.

still day 1 problem with mic still dosent work
