Basically, the title.
I use the official Oculus Link cable and tested the Link in stock and 1.2x + Encode Bitrate - 300 Mbps settings. I have given the Realtime priority to OVRServer64.exe. I have shut down all the monitoring/lighting apps. I have shut down all the apps except the Oculus app.
Same results all-around - performance overlay shows occasional frametime drops every now and then - even in Dash. It runs at 90 fps and then drops to low 30s for what feels like 5-6 frames.
I have tried disconnecting the cable. I have tried rebooting the headset. I have tried reinstalling the drivers and Oculus software.
The problem was also present with 2080ti and carried over with 3090.
My specs:
9700K OC'd to 4.8 GHz
RTX 3090
32 GB 3600 MHz CL16 RAM
Anyone else with the same issue? Or am I alone?

It’s 100% the drivers for nvidia. Anything past 446.14 causes frame drops and massive stutters. I was dealing with it for the past month until I DDU’d my drivers and installed 446.14. Fixed it instantly. If you have 20 series or older, you can rollback to 446.14 and it’ll fix the issue for you until oculus/nvidia can hold hands and sort the issue

Or you could just buy a proper PCVR hmd - get something that optimally connects to your video card using the DisplayPort. Both my Rift CV1 and Valve Index hmds are running flawlessly - no stuttering, no hiccups - and I'm still using an old GTX 1080. 2c.

Problem with that is that you can't do it with a 30 series card

What do you mean?

@NumbrOneDad I think @Tea-Party means that the driver you talked about using (446.14) is not compatible with the rtx3000 series gpu's. I believe the oldest one that supports them is 456.55. I did really like 446.14 with my old gtx1080ti though. Anyway, pretty outdated thread, lol!

Super outdated thread lmao. Yeah, you’re right though. That comment was months before I was able to order my own 3090 and I had been unaware that the 30 series cards had started with a later driver version. I haven’t had any performance issues with link since my upgrade to the 3090, so clearly they’ve ironed it all out lol. I’m way more impressed with link now than I was with my 1080, and even that card was a massive leap up from my rx 580 lmao. I’m truly shocked that link works as well as it does, especially lately. Glad to see less and less people struggling to get link working for them 🙂

And yeah, 446.14 was godly on my old 1080. It fixed all those hiccups and flickering that had persisted in nvidia drivers for the longest time lol.
