Oculus Link not working

Sh4rk13
Honored Guest

My quest 2 used to launch games like Roblox normally with no issue same with other games from my computer, but now it just doesn't and I've checked if everything is correct with the games which it is and the only thing it does launch is SteamVR, but even then only 1 game works the rest just launch in desktop and the headset doesn't detect any games being played so they just open in PC mode. I made sure OpenXR was set to Oculus and also tried putting it on SteamVR but that didn't work, I reinstalled both SteamVR and Oculus link and also factory reset my headset.

Nothing seems to work.

Hey @Sh4rk13, it seems that your VR experience is really being affected by this Oculus Link issue, and we've love to help you get back up and running with full functionality! Thanks so much for your efforts so far.
We're happy to offer you some troubleshooting here, and if you'd like some more personalized support based on your specific PCVR setup, please don't hesitate to send us a private message.

Let's start with some details. Send us your answers to the following:

  1. Are you receiving any error messages? If so, please tell us the exact wording that you see
  2. What happens when you try to launch a game and it fails?
  3. Have any of your devices received updates lately?
  4. Does your headset work normally when not using Link?
  5. Do games from Meta crash, or only games from OpenXR and SteamVR?

And here's the first step to try out:

  1. Open the Meta Quest PC app on your computer.
  2. Turn on your Quest headset.
  3. Plug your USB 3 cable into a USB 3 port on your PC, and then plug the other end into your headset.
  4. A message displays in VR prompting you to Allow access to data. Select Deny. If you mistakenly 'Allow' the prompt, you must unplug your USB cable from the Quest and plug it back in.
  5. When prompted to Enable Meta Quest Link, select Enable to begin remote rendering using Meta Quest Link.

Hopefully this helps you out, but we've got more tools under our belt if not! Let us know how it goes.

1. No, I do not receive error messages.
2. It just launches on the desktop and not in the VR.
3. Yes I update my devices frequently.
4. Yes it works normally when not in link.
5. If you mean link games then I do not own any but the games on the quest 2 itself do work but the games on my computer when using link.
The first step to try out did not work, I basically just launched link as usual so I do not see how it would have done anything.

Hi Sh4rk13,

We understand that you are trying to get PCVR games working on your Meta Quest 2 headset using the Quest Link. Thank you for your patience and trying those first steps troubleshooting steps mentioned above.

The next Step we could try is ensuring that AIR LINK is disabled in settings on the headset ? If this is not disabled please disable and attempt to use the Quest Link app again to play a PCVR game.

If the games are still not working there are more steps we can carry out so please feel free to let us know on here either way. We are looking forward to being able to get this sorted for you so you can enjoy your PCVR games again on your Meta Quest 2.

Airlink is disabled because I'm not using it, I am using link.

Hi there, thank you for confirming that Air Link is disabled.

The next step that we would ask you to try is to repair the Meta Quest app on your PC. You can do this by completing the following steps:

  1. Go to https://www.meta.com/quest/setup and click software.
  2. Select Repair
    • If Windows asks you if you are sure you want to open this file, click Yes.
    • If Windows Defender prompts Windows protected your PC, click More info, and then click Run anyway.
    • If your antivirus software restricts the file from opening, temporarily disable your antivirus and continue.
    • Please remember to re-enable your antivirus software once you have completed the repair.
  3. Allow the repair process to run, download and install.
  4. Launch the Meta Quest PC app.

We would also ask you to ensure that you have the latest Meta Quest drivers installed as well as the latest USB drivers and operating system updates. If you require assistance with checking these, please let us know and we can send you a step-by-step guide.

If, after trying these steps, the issue still persists, please let us know and we can investigate further.

Hope to hear from you soon!

It did not help, as I said, the problem is not with the connection itself but with the games not appearing in the VR and possibly not detecting it as Bonelab shows me the following message "OpenXR loader failed to initialize, Please verify your VR Headset is connected with the correct XR runtime"

Thank you for getting back in touch with us.

In order to investigate this further, we'd like to gather some more information. Would you mind sending us a private message? You can do so by going to our profile or clicking here.

Many thanks!
