Oculus Quest 2 Won't Turn on (Red Light Blinks and then stops)

Hey everyone,

I'm having a bit of a nightmare with my Quest 2 and wondering if anyone else has run into the same issue (from my searches, that seems to be the case).

So here's the deal: My Quest 2 won't turn on.

  • I've tried using 10 different USB cables. Yes, 10! Still no luck.
  • Tested the headset with 5 different chargers, just to be sure.
  • Switched between various power outlets around my house.
  • Left the headset charging for an entire day. Nothing.
  • Gave it a few days' break from charging, to see if that was the problem. No luck.
  • Usually, it sits on an Anker charging base, but now it's just not responding.
  • Hooked it up with a cable to measure the wattage. It shows it's getting power for a second (red light blinks), but then NADA. This repeats a few times before the red light gives up entirely.
  • Tried all the reboot tricks - holding the power button for 30 seconds, the power + volume -, power + volume +, even power + both volume buttons. Still, nothing.
  • No signs of life on the screen, no sounds, nothing.

I've seen others having similar issues, but I just wanted to document that more people are having the same mistake.

Thanks a bunch!

Hi, I have exact same problem, but my headset blinks red once in like 30 sec or not blinking at all. Have somebody a fix?

Hey there, @mingogomes and @svozka12! It seems like both of you are having some trouble with charging your devices. We can see that you've already tried a lot of troubleshooting, but we want to make sure you've attempted these methods as well, so we can help you further.

First, make sure you're using the wire and charge block that came with your device. Also, check if a charge light comes on when you plug it in. Next, while your device is plugged in and has been charging on the original charger for at least 30 minutes, try holding down the power button for at least 30 seconds.

If you're still experiencing any issues after trying these steps, please send us a Private message for further assistance! In order to PM us, all you need to do is select our name to get to our profile page, or click here. Next, click "Send a Message" to privately message us! Hey Meta Team,

I have tried both methods you mentioned. Even with the official charger.
As for the Power Button Press, I have done it for 5 min... still nothing.

I will be contacting you via PM, but this is a frequent issue that is happening with more and more people, on a product that I have used for less than 200 hours. Is insane! The response from support should be public, and not private.

Thanks

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to give you a quick update on the ongoing saga with my Quest 2 headset.

Unfortunately, Meta informed me that my headset is out of warranty and their only offer is for me to purchase a refurbished replacement through their Out of Warranty (OOW) program.

They didn't even offer me the option to repair... GREAT!

I will make sure to, NEVER, buy a headset from Meta. Or, actually, none of their products ever again. Imagine the product you bought stopped working for a bug, and their response is: "Buy a Used One".

This is a joke.

Got the SAME response for the same issue, it's just the battery that only has a life of 18 months, that meta won't cop too, but you can get a replacement battery of around 40 bucks.  However, the engineers that made the mq2 made sure to make the battery the next to last thing to remove (it's not soldered, but still a **bleep** move on their part) to its a little bit of work, but very possible.  Can't blame you for curbing meta, with its lack luster support. However, I replaced the battery after and its back up and running. Thanks for the help, Meta (SARCASM!)

I had the same problem and it's not the charger. I turned it in under the extended warranty and they wound up replacing the main board. I only had it for two years

Same thing happened to me! Their replacement program doesn't make sense for customers. They're charging $150 for a refurbished device when you can buy a new one for $200. Plus they want me to send them my dead one so they can fix it and resell.  Mine is in pristine condition other than it being dead.

A total joke!
