Oculus Quest 2 stuck on home screen

PegasusXXII
Honored Guest

Hello, my Oculus Quest 2 is stuck on the home screen, and I can't select anything. Furthermore, the screen is miniature and non-3D. I've attempted to restart it, perform a hard reboot, and even let the headset's battery drain and recharge, but the issue persists. Any assistance will be appreciated! Thank you.

Hi there @PegasusXXII! We know how important having a properly functioning display is for your headset, and we appreciate the troubleshooting you have done so far! This is certainly not something you should have to run into, so let's work together to see what we can do. In order for us to proceed with the best route to getting that fixed, we do have some additional steps and questions regarding that specific issue. Please go through the following, and let us know if anything changes after those steps:

  • Is this issue happening while the headset is standalone, or connected to a PC? If standalone, feel free to proceed to the next steps.
  • Is your Meta Quest mobile app up to date? Just to be sure, we highly suggest uninstalling and reinstalling that app, then logging back in.
  • Please ensure your phone is up to date in the phone settings as well.
  • Follow these steps to reboot device directly from the boot menu:
    • Turn off your headset.
    • Firmly hold the power and volume down (-) buttons on your headset simultaneously for about a minute, or until the boot screen loads on your headset.
    • Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Boot device and press the power button.
  • As a last resort, we are going to use the same steps as that reboot, but factory reset the headset instead this time. Your headset must be charged to at least 50% to avoid any irreparable damage, if the device dies during this process.

We're glad to work with you through this, so take your time with that and get back to us when you can!

Hi I’m having some difficulties with my oculus quest 2 the controllers aren’t connecting and the screen is black but I can hear the background music

Hey there @BALLERON2kGgirl! We definitely want for you to be able to enjoy your time in VR, and that is hard if your screen isn't displaying anything! We would recommend trying the following troubleshooting steps to see if we can get things working:

  1. Ensure the headset is powered on (check if the power LED is on)
    1. If you have trouble powering the headset back on after performing a factory reset, hold down the power button for 30 seconds.
    2. If there appears to be no power, attempt to charge the headset for 2 hours.

  2. If the headset powers on, but still no display is present:
    1. Remove any unsupported third-party accessories that may affect boot (such as external battery packs, accessories that plug into the USB-C port, etc.)
    2. Hard Reboot the headset
      1. Hold down the power button and volume down button for 30 seconds until you hear the boot-up sound
      2. If the boot-up sound is not heard:
        1. Hold the power and volume (-) button down simultaneously until the boot screen loads on your headset.
        2. Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight "Boot Device" and press the power button.
        3. Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Yes and press the power button.
  3. Factory reset

Hopefully that gets things working for you again. If your screen still does not display anything after a factory reset, please reach out over a private message and we can discuss further steps.
