Oculus Quest: End of support means unusable device?

Daxime

I come here following my post on Reddit.

To sum up, I still have my first-generation Quest. I don't use it as much, but I wanted to play Elite Dangerous in VR. But I couldn't, because it was asking me to update the headset even though it was already up to date, and it was asking me to pair the headset with my phone, but it refused to generate a pairing code.

I did a factory reset and it gave me a code, but the application couldn't complete the procedure. Now I've got an unusable headset ... In the application, my headset is still listed, but I can't connect to it or remove it from the list.

I've tried about ten versions of the application, between 209 and 245, and none of them worked.

I'm thinking it might be because the headset is still listed in the application. I tried to delete it, but it wouldn't work. I tried to delete it from the web interface (here), but it tells me that there are no headsets linked to my account...

Just before going to bed, I came across this video on YouTube. I'm going to try this solution.

Already tried, but with no succes.

@Daxime  maybe trying other versions of the mobile app will work as they need to be compatible-ish with the current firmware on the headset. And unless you can see the firmware version in the boot menu to match it to the mobile version.

Okay, I'll try that. Before the reset I had seen that the version was 50, but I can't remember if it was 50.0.0.195 or 50.0.0.198

@Daxime  anything close should give you the best chance of having the headset talk to the phone app.

Good luck.

Using this software solved the problem. I think the problem in my case came from the fact that the headset was still present in the application because as soon as the software did the pairing step, the application immediately connected to the headset and I was able to finish the procedure directly on my phone.

Hey, that was me! Glad the method got you up and running!

I know just enough about tech to look like I know what I'm doing.

Thank you for this video 🙂
