Hello everybody,
i've had my oculus rift s for almost 2,5 years now, altough that a lot of time, i hoped it would last longer, because problems with my headset are getting worse and worse by day.
Problems i have that are not fixable:
-Headset speakers not working. fixes ive tried: i had this on 2 pcs now, so its not because of my pc, theyre not just silent, they do have sound when its quiet, but when it gets louder, they make a lot of loud static noise, so theyre just broken.
-Headset randomly turning off. what happens: screen turns black, static noise from speakers turns up for 5 seconds, headset shuts off, after a few second it reboots, but its still not good when playing intensive games.
-Controller getting stuck. What happens: when the Headset crashes, and im not holding both controllers if the cameras field of view from the headset, the controller sticks to the ground, doesnt matter if i take out the battery, and try it again, it just doesnt work, ill ususally have to unplug my headset, which is annoying.
I only count those 3 as my main Problems with this headset, if anyone has suggestions how to fix this other than trying usb 3.0 (otherwise the headset doesnt work) resetting my pc (ive done that like 3 times already) installing new drivers (just doesnt help) and basically any common answer like ,,restart your pc,, then ill be very greatful for any Fixes that you know. Thank you for any help, im just frustrated.
Thank you.

This sounds like a hardware problem I recommend getting your quest rift s looked at by a specialist to get it repaired or buy a new vr for your pc

The most common fix for Rift-S issues that I've seen on here as well as experienced myself is using a powered USB hub instead of connecting directly to the PC's USB ports. The Rift-S is very sensitive to power, it can be unstable or have visual or audio issues if it isn't getting enough.
If its been running for a while but is getting worse, it could still be a power issue, such as flexing of the cable wearing out the copper wires and having an already borderline power supply drop just enough for issues to appear.
(I had the same issues with my Rift-S. I plugged it in to a powered hub and it's been working fine for 4 years)

I had these "randomly turning off" problem after using the Rift S daily for almost two years.
In my case it was probably a cable issue - sadly, a powered USB hub didn't help.
But like @kojack said, it's solved the problem for many user.....it is worth a try.

the 2.2.0 update bricked my headset. I'm ordering a new usb hub to try and see if that fixes it. Crazy there is no way to install older versions of the firmware. Not going to file a ticket, i've tried it all. The thing is just really flaky.
