Oculus Rift Still Crashing Games

Anonymous
Not applicable
This has been happening for two years now on and off and the problem is getting old. Now I'm trying to play Half-Life: Alyx and I get the same sort of crash, randomly at some point within an hour of playing a game. The video freezes but the game continues playing. I can hear things happening with the audio and I can see things happening on my monitor. I've tried literally everything and I've formatted my system drive 3 times now since this problem began. Meaning starting with a fresh install of Windows on a blank drive, this means not only was I installing all the latest drivers and updates but uninstalling anything becomes irrelevant. I've updated my video drivers repeatedly and the iterations have gone through several new versions now. The problem in most Oculus store games based on logs seems video related but despite sharing these logs I've never, ever gotten any good helpful feedback before. So now that it's been a year or so since my last attempt at support I hope that more people have experienced this and have solved it.

My hardware is overqualified even still and was way overqualified for Oculus back then.

Obviously first gen Rift touch.

Intel i7 gen 8 CPU w/Arctic water cooler
NVidia GTX 1080 w 8gb vram (latest version 445.75)
32 GB Corsair memory
Asus TUF z370 main board
1200w Corsair power supply (someone suggested this would help with the problem, an upgrade from 750w, it did not solve anything)
1TB Samsung SSD
Windows 10 now version 1909  (10.0.18363.720)
Latest USB drivers from ASUS' website

Yes I've disabled power management on USB. No I do not have two monitors.

This problem began *before* adding two more sensors and extension cables w/repeaters. So I can literally back down to two sensors without extensions or HDMI repeaters and STILL reproduce the exact same problem.

Games this happens most with:

Echo VR
Lone Echo
Half-Life: Alyx
Moss
Contractor$
Vox Machinae
Brass Tactics
etc. etc. Just pretty much all games I actually play.

Should I just buy a Valve Index at this point?
