Oculus core mobile service keeps stopping loop

rackadj
Explorer

I’ve tried every troubleshooting method but the factory reset. I’ve rebooted hard/soft and still the Oculus quest 2 continuously shuts down shows the error "Oculus core mobile services keep stopping"  and then restarts again in a never ending loop. You can't click anything before it crashes again, I've tried clicking app info but it just robots over and over no matter what. I sent a chat and the guy said that s factory reset is the only option without asking any other questions. That’s crazy to me that this the only option. The oculus isn’t even 4 months old and my 8 year old is devastated at the thought of losing everything so I’d like to prevent that if possible. Any help would be appreciated.

Hey there, @rackadj. We appreciate you reaching out and letting us know what kind of issues you are facing with the core mobile service loop.

We know that this can certainly take all the fun out of your VR experience, and we want to get this sorted out for you so you can keep playing.

Seeing as you have done everything but the factory reset, we want to make sure you are aware of the option to back up all your progress with cloud backup. This will save you your data so you don't lose everything.

If you do want to do the factory reset, we have included the steps to do so.

Here is how.

To perform a factory reset using your phone:

  1. Open the Meta Quest app on your phone.
  2. Tap Devices in the bottom menu.
  3. Tap the headset connected to your phone.
  4. Tap Advanced Settings.
  5. Tap Factory Reset and then Reset.

To perform a factory reset using the headset:

  1. Turn off your headset.
  2. Hold the power and volume (-) button on your headset down simultaneously until the boot screen loads on your headset.
  3. Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Factory Reset and press the power button.
  4. Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Yes and press the power button.

Please also reset your device afterward.

To restart your headset:

  1. With your headset on and powered on, press and hold the power button on the right side of your headset until you see the Power off screen.
  2. Select Restart. Your headset will turn off and then turn back on.

If you're unable to restart your headset:

  1. Press and hold the power button for at least 10 seconds. This will manually turn off your headset.
  2. Wait 30 seconds.
  3. Press and hold the power button until your headset turns back on.

But how can you perform a cloud backup if you can’t open the headset?

Hi @Honco! I don't think there's a way to remotely backup the device, but luckily your purchases will stay tied to your account so you can redownload after logging back in!

You most likely did it by now but if you didn't, look at this page to see what was backed up! https://secure.oculus.com/my/cloud-backup/

Thanks so much for sharing this helpful link! You're the best @SpaceAce11  😁

This has happened to me as well. I might go for the factory reset But I want to know if it will take my ingame purchases away

All purchases will stay, but I am not sure about like if you purchased in game currency and purchases with that currency. But if you for example purchased a DLC it will stay once you redownload the game.

Hiya! It's just like @SpaceAce11 mentioned, all purchases are tied to the account rather than the headset. You should be able to redownload everything after logging back in! As for in-game currency, that would be up to the developers whether or not they allow cloud backup. Enabling cloud backup with help keep game save data secure, but it's ultimately going to depend on the game. Keep me posted on how the factory reset goes! Hope it works out, I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you!

I already have cloud backup enabled but for other people that see this how would they enable it from the app in cases of boot loop
