Oculus program on PC wont connect to Oculus service

Hi

I recently got a problem with opening the Oculus app on my PC. Several months ago i could connect my Quest 1 to my PC without any issues, as the program worked fine then. But until recently it keeps on loading until i get the Oculus App Status message telling that it can't reach the Oculus Service. I tried everything: the forums, community, etc brought up about this problem. But nothing seems to help. I even tried launching the OVRServer_x64.exe together with the normal Oculus.exe. And it somehow (kind of) worked. But it was not running like it normally should. I could control my desktop on my Oculus Quest 1. But things like opening SteamVR or other VR apps did not work. I haven't changed or added anything in the time period as to when the app started to not work. So i have no idea what the issue could be. As i said. I searched all forums related to this issue. But nothing that solved the issue. I also uninstalled the program, deleted every file related to Oculus, etc. Then re-installed it. Nope. Nothing.. All my drivers are up to date from my PC as well as my VR headset.

Hmmm when exactly did this issue start? I know you said you've already tried a bunch of troubleshooting from the forums, but I wanted to share the steps I've seen work in the past (just in case these weren't mentioned in other posts!):

  1. Ensure that the Windows local user account name does not contain special Unicode characters (For example:  / \ [ ] : ; | = , + * ? < >)
  2. Check and stop the Oculus VR Runtime Service
    1. Open the Microsoft Services Console (start - search - services.msc)
    2. Verify the Oculus VR Runtime Service status is not running (Right click - Stop)
    3. Verify the Oculus VR Runtime Service Startup type is Automatic (no delayed start)
    4. If the service startup type is not showing Automatic: Right click “Oculus VR Runtime Service,” Select “Properties,” change Startup Type to “Automatic”
    5. Find and delete this folders:
      • C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\Oculus\sessions
    6. Delete the contents of these folders:
        • C:\Program Files (x86)\Oculus\Downloads
        • C:\Program Files (x86)\Oculus\tmp
    7. Start the Oculus VR Runtime Service from services.msc

If you've already tried all of that, as well as all other troubleshooting step available, I really recommend reaching out to the support team! They'll be able to run your PC logs and take a look into what could be going on. You can get in touch with them here, or through PM with @MetaQuestSupport.

EDIT: Just saw your reply in another thread where support already gave these same steps. My bad, don't wanna sound like a broken record giving you the same troubleshooting that didn't work 😅. Since that didn't help, definitely get your logs over to the team! There's a thread on how to get your PC logs here. I really hope this gets fixed for you soon, friend!
