Oculus quest 2 connection issue

I have a problem with the quest link, and it annoys me a lot

most days, it connects fine. although recently i've been having trouble with connecting it to my PC at all.

it's showing me this today, and it won't let me remove the device to try and fix the problem. I have tried restarting the whole thing through the "restart meta quest link", but when I click the button that would usually force the thing to restart, it doesn't do anything. I have a hunch that it won't let me restart the program because I have an "active" device, but I couldn't find anything that would help me on the forums.

Thank you for getting back to us, here are some alternative steps that may help you get your quest link working again.

  1. Ensure Air Link is disabled in Settings on the headset.

  2. Repair the Meta Quest PC Application. This is accessed by re-running the Meta Quest setup file. If the setup file detects that Meta Quest Home has been installed, partially or fully, Repair will appear in the list as an option. Repair is unlikely to address any app-specific or error messages related to hardware components.
    1.
      1. Go to https://www.meta.com/quest/setup and click Download software.
      2. Select Repair.
        1. If Windows asks you if you are sure you want to open this file, click Yes.
        2. If Windows Defender prompts Windows protected your PC, click More info, and then click Run anyway.
        3. If your antivirus software restricts the file from opening, temporarily disable your AV and continue.
        4. Please remember to re-enable your antivirus software once you have completed the repair.
      3. Allow the repair process to run, download and install.
      4. Launch the Meta Quest PC app.

a piece of additional info I forgot to put it was this

tanyn2023_2-1728068057040.png

it would have made sense for it to auto disconnect when the power ran out. today when I checked this afternoon, and I hadn't charged it overnight, it still had around 63% left.

Hi there Tanyn thanks for getting in touch with us. We want to help with your Quest Link issue. To start could you try the following steps?

  1. Open the Meta Quest PC app on your computer.
  2. Turn on your Quest headset.
  3. Plug your USB 3 cable into a USB 3 port on your PC, and then plug the other end into your headset.
  4. A message displays in VR prompting you to Allow access to data. Select Deny. If you mistakenly 'Allow' the prompt, you must unplug your USB cable from the Quest and plug it back in.
  5. When prompted to Enable Meta Quest Link, select Enable to begin remote rendering using Meta Quest Link.

when I plus the cable into my PC's USB 3 port then to my headset, it only gives me a notification that says "USB detected, click on this notification to allow connected device to access files" without giving me an option to deny
