Oculus software detecting usb 3.0 as usb 2.0

The title should be self-explanatory; My oculus software is detecting my USB 3.0 cable(the Anker one that was recommended before the official link cable) and USB 3.0 port as USB 2.0. I've gone and tried to update my drivers, including uninstall/reinstall, to no avail. Any suggestions for a fix? For reference, both my Quest and PC are running the latest versions, and my PC is link compatible.

Its a known issue

Try turning the USB C connection over. Although they should work in both directions, some USB cables only work properly when connected in a specific direction. other than that open a support ticket.

do you have a lot of USB peripherals (mouse, keyboard, etc) attached, if so perhaps your motherboard might be being overloaded. If you can't manage to figure it out and you have a spare PCI slot on your motherboard, get a dedicated USB 3.0 PCI express PCIe Controller (there relatively inexpensive)

Nothing else is plugged in. Using a gaming laptop.

ok so from what i can gather According to Oculus support there are known issues with the ASMedia chipset with USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports (Not sure if this applies to you you'll have to check in device manager) also some people are reporting that on that chipset if they uninstall the drivers and install the default microsoft drivers the link recognises i as a USB3

:edit:

also Z370 based boards using the ASMedia chipset based USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports DO NOT work with 3rd party cables, but apparently they DO work with the official Oculus Link cable

I don't think that's what's going on?

have you checked on Intel's website for an updated driver.

Since you have a laptop see if you have any slots for PCMCIA card

I'll try that, thanks

Edit: No dice

Update, after checking it out with USB device tree viewer, it looks like my USB 3.0 ports are being detected at USB 2.0 for unknown reasons. It looks like there's some USB 3.0 ports but they seem to just be dummy ports
