idk why but when i tried using my prepaid card directly on the oculus store, it wouldn't work. Yet when i linked my prepaid card to my paypal account, it worked fine, so if it still doesnt work for you try making a paypal account and connecting your card to paypal

Hey @BrianTheBigDilf! Payment issues are something we don't like hearing about. We know how important gift cards are. No worries, let's try to get this resolved. If you're referring to a Meta Quest gift card, first you will have to add a supported payment method to your account on top of adding the gift card then your payment should go through. If you're attempting to use a prepaid gift card, we do want to let you know that it's not one of our recommended or supported options and will not work. If you're still having issues with a supported method please let us know so we can assist further!

yeah i’m using a prepaid card. i’ve used a prepaid card a lot last month and it worked like a charm. and now this month i’ve tried to do it and it says “payment declined” and i have over 100 dollars on it. i kept trying over and over and now the prepaid card is locked. so did u guys now start declining prepaid cards or is it possible they at least work?

We see that there is some confusion on how payment is taken on our site. We just wanted to chime in, so that you don't get blocked up when you try to purchase things.

If you wish to use PayPal, please note the following:

Your PayPal account must be verified. Unverified accounts will not work.

Your billing address for PayPal must be in a country that we ship to. Please click here to review the list of those countries.

For customers who are contacting Oculus Support from the Asia-Pacific region, a credit card or bank account must be associated with your PayPal account.

In addition, some payment issues could be tied to the form of payment. For customers within the United States, we accept the following payment methods

PAYMENT METHOD TYPES:

VISA

MasterCard

AMEX - American Express transactions with our payment system must be in USD.

PRE-PAID CARDS / GIFT CARDS:

At this time we do not accept pre-paid cards.

It most likely did not work since we do not take pre-paid cards, however when you linked the paypal account, it passes through the paypal account rather than directly to the card. So there is a middleman, and while this may not work for everyone, we are delighted it did for you.

Hi, I managed to buy a game on my account, where I couldn't add a payment method (Paypal / credit card). Here's my workaround:

  1. Create a new meta account (#2).
  2. Add a payment method to #2.
  3. Purchase a gift code with #2 for #1 (provide #1's email): https://www.meta.com/de/quest/gift-cards/ Pro Tip: The amount should be at least as high as the original / shown price of the game/app you want to buy, even if you could get a 25% discount through a friend referral code for the game/app. Only then could I buy the game using the "gift card" option.
  4. Redeem the gift code on #1 (the main account) in the Quest app on your smartphone(!). Follow the instructions in the email with the gift code.
  5. Select the game/app in the Quest app on your smartphone and choose "Buy." If you have enough "gift card" balance, the payment should work.

Here's a 25% discount code for "Dungeons of Eternity," which I can finally try out 😉

Good luck!
