I can't believe how many threads concern Meta's refusal to provide customisation options, as though denying users the capacity to do so is part of Antichrist v2.0's mission statement for his company, but anyway, here's another.
Can we please have the option of disabling that horrible ringing noise?
It's not pleasant, it doesn't add anything to the experience, it's like New Age tinnitus.
Now that we finally have the option to disable that ghastly mirror, how about the same option to disable the dreadful ringing noise?

hey there, @Beezus.Fuffoon, and thank you for reaching out with this request. We know that any continuous noise can disrupt any VR session, so rest assured we'll be glad to dig into this with you and see if we can help find a resolution. To do so, we'll need some more details about the noise you are hearing:
The more details you provide us, the better of an idea of what you are experiencing we'll get and the better positioned we'll be to see the way forward to getting it resolved. We'll keep an eye out for your response!

what info do you need? if your room is dark you have to pick an environment. passthrough disables. every environment has horrible background noise. whats worse, that horrible noise keeps going even when watching prime movies. it makes the quest 3 almost unusable. worst design flaw in vr history.

If you use the Bubbles environment there isn't any background sound. Most environments aren't all that noisy, but some are more than others. The background/ambient noise goes away when you open a standalone app, or go into PCVR via Link, Air Link, Virtual Desktop, or SteamL:ink. Still, I agree it would be nice to be able to mute ambient sounds. cheers.

I think the OP is talking about the background music when in Link dashboard. I requested being able to turn this off or at least being able to change the volume separately from the main volume settings over a year ago. Very annoying as it does sound like tinnitus.
I tracked this down to an audio file mus_void_ambisonic.wav in the \Oculus\Support\oculus-dash\dash\assets\raw\audio_dash\Assets\ folder. Replacing this with a "blank" audio file of the same file name did not replace the sound, so it must be embedded somehow into the Link runtime.
Play the WAV file on infinite repeat in the background on your desktop and see how long you can tolerate it. 😅

@NomadsAnIsland Honestly I don't hear any ambient noise when I'm in the meta-link home/dashboard using Link or Air Link. Sorry, not sure why you do? I seem to recall a long time ago when there was the Oculus dollhouse feature you could press the left controller menu button to get into its audio options. At that time I used this and turned them all off. I don't know if this makes any difference now, unless you are still trying to use the old Oculus home feature. Of course you can always just manually turn the headset volume down as well. Cheers.

Before the Home was removed none of the audio settings had any effect on the ambient sound without effecting audio volume universally.
Muting the headset audio mutes the audio on all apps. Not a solution.
Tolerance to repetitive sounds varies by individual. It might take longer for a dripping faucet to start "bugging" you than others.

@NomadsAnIsland I’m a very long time user since Rift cv1 and when the oculus home dollhouse existed there was a separate volume control for ambient, not just universal.
Again I tried both my QPro and Q3 in the current v72 home and couldn’t hear any ambient sounds. Maybe you have titnus or something? I guess if your headset volume is high enough you may be getting some audio feedback. Maybe check your windows audio settings and make sure you’ve disabled enhanced audio.

I have also ambient sound in the link app..... it does not bother me though, it's not loud and I normally don't stay in the void but open a game.
@NomadsAnIsland I don't remember, if there was a slider for ambient sound.....
But in the inventory for your home - @TomCgcmfc likes to call it "dollhouse" - were different ambient sounds which you can select and also the option "no sound"
I think, people who had set it to this option, don't have ambient sound now.... all others have the sound from their home in the background, even after it got removed.
BTW @TomCgcmfc .....I love playing with dollhouses😂

I hear continuous, random, waterfall sounds. How do you turn them off?
