I havent used the rift for 2 months, plugged it all back in, ran through the setup, hdmi detected ok, usbs connected ok. But im just getting the orange light (the light does go out when sensor is covered) and black screens. My nvidia graphics card doesnt seem to be detecting the headset as a second display, its only showing my monitor. I have tried reinstalling oculus, reinstalling graphics drivers (416.94). Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks
Having the exact same issue with the exact same drivers. Haven't used the Rift in at least 2 months also. It's really starting to piss me off that every time I use the device. I have to spend 4 hours trying to get it to work.
I had to revert back to Nvidia Drivers 388.59 to get it to work again. Uninstalling, and clean install of 416.94 did not work. Clean install of 388.59 did work. It's very frustrating having to troubleshoot every time you decide to use the device.
I'm using 416.94 (and have used every update as they appear since getting the Rift) without any issue, but rolling back to an earlier 'known good' Nvidia driver seems to be the commonest solution for those with issues.
It is curious how different systems behave in this respect, Nvidia drivers are WHQL certified so should integrate correctly into any Windows installation, but they obviously don't.
I hope you both find that driver reverts keep you enjoying the great hardware.
