Orientation keeps flipping backwards

Recently during gameplay, my orientation will suddenly flip backwards. Would anyone have any answers or suggestions?

For those who have this problem with Meta (Oculus) 2 flipping your vr view by 180 degrees or otherwise flipping your view, I solved it by changing the AA batteries in the hand controllers.

It actually tries to triangulate the view around the hand controllers.  When the hand controllers are weak in battery and it loses track of them— if flips your vr view to where it “thinks” they are located.

Hey everyone! Just jumping in here to note that I'll be locking this thread. The reason being that the original post is from 2022 and could have a different cause to any issues seen currently.

If you're having any issues with your orientation, I'd highly recommend reaching out to @MetaQuestSupport through private message or with a new post in Get Help

Thanks!

@SeasonofArtemis Could you explain a bit more on what you mean by 'flip backwards'?

How about maybe a photo of what you're seeing?

@SeasonofArtemis

Is this issue making it look like you instantaneously turned 180 degrees inside of the virtual world? If so, I'm having the same issue.

Hey there @matthew.vanhecke! We'd love to understand what you mean so we can ensure you're having the best visual experience possible. Could you drop a picture of this issue in this thread so we can understand it better? Thanks!

Yes, it this same exact issue. It started after I cast to my laptop, then stayed even after disconnecting

I don't have any photos of the instance, yet my view does a 180, where I'm suddenly looking behind my position, then it'll reset and go back to my normal view

Thanks for that info! We've got some questions we'd like to ask to better grasp this situation:

  • Was your headset tracking working well before? No issues like this or Guardian issues previously?
  • Has anything in the layout of your play area changed recently?
  • Does this happen when you are in other rooms?
  • How bright are your lights and are there any reflective surfaces in your play area? If the lights are bright enough to comfortable read a book in, that should be fine.

Hope to hear from you soon!

Hi! The situation that @SeasonofArtemis described above with the view doing a 180 is the same issue I've been having. I'm not sure exactly when mine started though.

  • The headset occasionally has issues with tracking, but they don't seem to happen at the same time is this issue does.
  • The layout of the play area has not changed.
  • I have two different desks that I use this at (one at home, one in the office). I believe it has been happening at both, but I will confirm when back in the office tomorrow.
  • The lights are bright enough to comfortably read a book.

Thanks!

Thanks for confirming that! We would like for you to enter a support ticket with us here: https://store.facebook.com/help/support/ with a detailed description as well as a video .

For gameplay issues (i.e., lag) you can use the built-in recording features and then transfer the recorded video to your computer for emailing.

Please check that the problem is visible in your recording before sending it. As the recording captures the image being sent to the display, if the issue is with the display itself, the recording will look perfect, while what you see on the display may not.

For display issues (i.e., spots or lines) you will need to record the video through the lenses, the same as if you were viewing it yourself.

To take a video of what you experience in the headset:

  • Select an app or background in which the issue is most visible.
  • Place your headset on a flat, stable surface.
  • Cover the proximity sensor, located between the lenses, so that the display remains illuminated. As you will likely want both hands for taking your video, use a piece of paper and/or tape to block the sensor.
  • Keep the lenses pointed away from external light sources, and do not use a flash. The display backlight will provide sufficient illumination for the image, and external light will only create glare off the lenses.
  • Get your camera as close to the lens as possible without actually touching the lens, so that you are taking a video through the lens, not of the lens.

Please attach your video file to support ticket

If the file size is too large to attach directly to your reply, please upload the video to Dropbox and send us a link. Be sure to share the file so that we can have access to view it. If you don't already have a Dropbox account, the 2GB account is free.
