PTC v62 - The USB debugging prompt does not appear when the headset is plugged into the computer.

On v62, the USB debugging prompt does not appear when the Quest 3 is plugged into the computer.

To make it appear, we must click on the "oculus/meta" home button. Then, once accepted, to make the home environment appear, we must click again on this button.

On all previous versions of Meta, this prompt appeared without a hitch.

Could you please fix that ?

Hello everybody! So I can provide the team with updated info, can you guys please provide me the following:

  1. What's the full version number of your headset? (62.0.0.####### or likewise)
    • Quick Settings > System > Software Update
  2. What version is your Meta Quest app currently running?
  3. Are you running v62 on the PTC?
  4. What headset this is happening on?
  5. Any workarounds you have found?
  6. Does the prompt shows up if you take the headset off like @RootZero found out? [thread link]

Please let me know of this, it'll be really helpful!

Hi @ShiroTenko & @MetaQuestSupport, you can close this thread and the other ones I created about the wireless debugging mentioning v65 fixed the issue. The Meta developers have fixed the issue in the v65 PTC 😉 It was long, very long, I had to ask again and again since the v62 months ago to fix that. Now it is fixed. Hope they will not break again...

Thank you for your help, but Meta should really create a decent a bug report platform, not just a forum. This is the only company doing that, it's ridiculous... There is no way to report bugs properly with a ticket number to follow, states, etc..., nope... just a forum... The bug we open/create on the developer hub or from the Quest itself can't be followed... nothing.

I know you are not responsible for Meta decisions, and I thank you and your team. You did your best to help in this ridiculous forum.

Have a good day 🙂

Noticed the same thing. I just get a black screen until I managed to make the prompt appear in a similar fashion.

Hello @AliceinVRworld, I still have the problem and all the people I contacted to do the same tests on v62 also get the problem.

Thanks for posting that picture, @Anagan79! We'll pass this along to our engineers so we can get eyes on this issue. We'll let you know if they have any updates about this when possible.

Hey @Anagan79, so we recently received news that the workaround should be continued for the time being. However, in order for the team to investigate the matter in further detail, they need some bug reports submitted.

Here's the link to an article to submit said bug report: Report a problem

Hello @ShiroTenko I already reported this bug via the developer hub and directly via the headset.

It appears to everyone when they plug their Quest on a smartphone that run Bugjaeger or SideQuest mobile app, or the first time you plug your Quest to the PC and you start the developer hub or sidequest when the USB debug prompt appear, the screen goes black. This is very annoying as a developer...
