Pair Me Up!

Meta Community Guys,

     Hiya' , how ya' doin'? I was just moseying by. I had a thought...how 'bout I PM you guys with my 5 digit # and you pair me up..........?...........yeah, that's what I thought.

Do I understand this correctly, the software requiring pairing (using a 5 digit # in my case) is onboard the headset itself and there's no using ANYTHING (Virtual Desktop, SteamVR etc.) until it's paired with Meta?

I'd hate to have to buy a new phone because I can't get 1 app to work!
