This year my bank started deploying payment cards that do not have one CVV/CVC code assigned to them, the code changes every day. The issues that creates is I can't buy anything on the meta quest store since the card added to my account is with the CVC code that's now expired and an attempt to make a purchase blocks the card.
I have tried re-adding the card but since a card with the same number is already on my account, re-adding doesn't seem to do anything and the CVC code is not replaced for the new one when I do that. I also can't completely remove the card from my account since I have a subscription active. Could meta add some workaround for that situation? I want to spend money here 😛
One work around would be to purchase meta gift cards from another place and add them to your account. I know it is an extra step, but the situation with a credit card that changes the CVV daily is extremely rare.
Payment systems, as you have experienced, aren't setup to deal with a credit card that has security like that.
Yeah my bank is kind of on the leading edge with weird solutions like that. While it does make your account more secure it's also annoying. But I believe in the future this will absolutely spread so we are going to need an official solution sooner or later
Right on. The Apple Card lets you change the CVV or number any time you feel the need. But it doesn't automatically change daily.
Changing the CVV would make it VERY secure, so I see the point. The only pain is that the payment systems out there are coded to have the profile of the card with a set CVV and expect it to be for a period of time. And for someone to update that would require the programming but a TON of regulation and certification to be allowed for use.
All I really need right now is the ability to quickly edit the card's data at checkout, or at all lol
