Paypal not working on Meta, tried everything.

Hiya,

I've been in contact with Paypal and Meta for my issue. Paypal states that if I try to purchase something, nothing is shown in their systems. Meta is just honestly rather useless.

I've tried the following:

1. Turning off my VPN completely. Application has been uninstalled for quite some time now.
2. Clearing cookies and site data for both Paypal and Meta websites.
3. Using a different browser and turning off all themes/plugins using "Troubleshoot Mode" in Firefox.
4. Using a fresh browser installation. Chrome from their official website, Firefox from "PortableApps" and Edge.
4. Using the Oculus app to buy a game or add my Paypal to my account.
5. Using a brand new Paypal account.
6. Using the mobile application to add Paypal and buy something.
7. Restarting and resetting my router. Also turning everything off and back on again, including the modem.
8. Putting money directly on my Paypal account even though 2 bank accounts have been successfully added to my account.
9. Calling Paypal about a dozen times for troubleshooting. They stated that they're not even getting a request for a payment to be made and everything on my Paypal account is completely fine.
10. Using the cellular network (I already tried it but now I tried it yet again!)
11. Purchasing a game over the headset.
 
The most curious thing is that Paypal works perfectly fine for a friend who lives a few kilometers from me. He added Paypal somewhere at the start of this year. The reason I managed to acquire some games is because I sent him money over Paypal so he can "gift" these games to me. Something I noticed is that his "Automatic Payment" booking on Paypal has a different name than mine. When I add Paypal to my Meta account, the booking states "Meta Platforms Technologies, LLC" while his booking is called "Meta Platforms Technologies Ireland Limited". I'm not into payment stuff but I did find that curious.

Will keep trying at Meta but I don't have high hopes to be honest. I snipped the parts above from my meta support emails. Does anyone know what I can to resolve this?

I have the same problem. I have also tried many things. I am however certain the problem lies with Meta, not Paypal. A friend of mine was having no issues with his paypal account, so I let him add my account as payment method to his oculus account. Paying with my Paypal account worked just fine from his account. I have contacted Meta but they have not yet replied. I have been doing some reasearch about this. Someone with the same problem, also having a friend whose account works just fine, noticed that their paypal accounts get set up with a different company. This persons friend (and my friend as well) get set up with Meta Platforms Technologies Ireland Limited. That is a different company than what he (and I) get set up with: Meta Platforms Technologies, LLC. Perhaps this is where the fault lies. My theory is that Meta made a mistake in the companies name, meaning that for anyone adding their paypal right now, it won't work. 

Could you check what company name you get set up with when adding paypal? 

To me the device seems quite useless as long as I cant set up a payment method.

Same here.

Could not buy a game with PayPal in the app. (app connect with LLC)

So I tried to buy a gift card with the same paypal account on the meta website and it worked fine. (this time I got Ireland limited)

But the gift card got mailed to me almost 2 hours after I bought them. So also not really a viable option.

Thanks for the replies! I tried answering twice now but it just doesn't show up. I reply, then it says it needs to be approved for some reason and then it never shows.

As mentioned in the OP, I got the same issue with the 2 different booking names on Paypal. I've tried adding my Paypal in a large variety of ways before but maybe they fixed something after that. My friend has the one from Ireland and I always get the LLC one.

I'm just really glad I'm not alone on this at least. Contacting Paypal didn't help as I felt too that they couldn't really help me. Hopefully everything will work in the future. Again thanks for your replies :)! As for the Gift Cards, I can't use them because they're apparently not available in the Netherlands, though like you said Kimo it's unfortunately not really a solution 😞

EDIT: I tried the website again, Paypal added just fine. I still have it as "Meta Platforms Technologies, LLC" however. I also tried the Oculus App and it's the same result.

Thanks for the update! And let’s keep this thread alive until they resolve this problem. Luckily a lot of the games are also available on steam vr.

btw I also live in the Netherlands. I wonder if that’s also just a coincidence.

I have exactly the same problem. I was planning to write down all the steps that i did, but all the steps are documented above.

I did own an Oculus Rift and bought several games the last 6 a 7 years with PayPal. I bought the Quest 3 as an upgrade and also noticed that my Paypal subscription changed from "Meta Platforms Technologies Ireland Limited" to "Meta Platforms Technologies, LLC". After that PayPal fails.

Funny thing is that all my other subscriptions like Disney, Netflix, Spotify, etc... are working perfectly with PayPal. Meta is the only one that causes problems. I'm 100% sure that this problem is with Meta and Not PayPal.

I've tried numerous times to get in contact with Meta to discuss this problem but with no avail. PayPal is my only way to purchase online. I'm really disappointed i cannot buy any apps for my Quest 3. It's sitting useless for over 2 weeks on a shelf.

I'm not from the Netherlands, but from Belgium. Maybe the issue is related?

Please Meta, fix this. So i can give you my money.

 I just contacted Meta support again and included screenshots. Hope they can solve it.

Is anyone even getting any response so far from meta? Since a couple of days ago I’ve tried twice but nothing so far…

Actually yes. I did enter a support ticket a few hours ago. First i was contacted by Meta support and they asked a few questions. Now it's escalated to Meta Quest Support. I'll keep you all posted.

In my first try for writing my response, I included the reply I got from meta but forgot about it at my third try... I don't know why these forums are so glitchy.

I needed to provide some basic information and they stated that "Once I have the information requested above I will pass this to our specialized team and they will have further review in your account."

This was Wednesday and I haven't heard anything back since then.

EDIT: They've replied back! The person who responded stated that he/she has "taken ownership of this ticket, and it will be my pleasure to assist you moving forward." Continuing with "I totally understand your frustration in regard to you unable to use PayPal to make any purchase. Rest assured, our team is currently reviewing your account and we will notify you once we have an update. "

So they're on it which is good news. I've linked this thread to them as well in the hope that it might help pinpoint the problem though I'm not sure if that was of any help. Thank you for all the replies! Hopefully it will all be fixed soon ._.
