People App Calls not working

Hey y’all,

Recently picked up Quest 3’s for my dad and I. The first day we got them, we were able to successfully make a call to each other via the People app so we could talk while gaming. These past couple days however, the People app hasn’t been connecting our calls. It gets to this loading screen after you attempt to join the call but never ends up connecting. We have had the meta app open on our iPhones when attempting to call each other too and it still didn’t work. Anyone else having similar issues? Any known fixes out there? Any info would be appreciated.

Hey @cru_ease! It looks like this may have been missed by the support team but I didn't want to leave you hanging. 

If you're still running into this issue, there is something a bit basic that seemed to work for me:

  1. Go to your system settings
  2. Unmute the system mic 
  3. Try calling again, it should now work

If you were able to get it set up, feel free to post what helped out in case anyone else jumps in here with the same thing! 

If you're still needing help, I would suggest reaching out to @MetaQuestSupport through PM for them to get a closer look into everything.

Hey, so when i try to call/join someones call on the oculus peoples app it says “An error has occurred plesse try again” no suggestions have worked i have factory reset my headset booted my headset and everything and nothing has worked, but also im having another problem my oculus wont pair to the oculus app do you think thats a reason why i cant join the calls like my oculus is working but my oculus isnt actually paired to the app it says unable to connect some help to get this fixed will be great.

Hey there, @nepttune! We want to make sure you can call and join calls! The pairing challenges you are having may have something to do with what you are

experiencing in the Oculus Peoples app. We'd be happy to help you look into that further. Let's start by helping you with pairing. 

Please try the following:

  • Ensure the phone is compatible with the Meta Quest App. The minimum OS requirements for phones to run the Meta Quest mobile app are Apple iOS 13.4 or late and Android 5.0 or later
  • Ensure the phone app and headset are on the latest available version
  • Ensure phone and headset are connected to the same network, on the same frequency
  • Remove any unsupported third-party accessories that may affect communication (such as headset covers, etc.) 

Please let us know if this resolves things for you or if more assistance is needed!

Hey so I just had a bug happen where it won’t let me call my friend and just says error trying to connect to call or keeps me infinitely loading into it. Scoured the web and seen you guys say power it off and factory reset it which I’ve done now and tested it and it still says that. Need another way to fix this asap. Not happy.

We don't want anyone to experience the silent treatment from the Peoples app, and we would love to see if we can get you to call your friends again. We appreciate you attempting a factory reset, and since that didn't work, we would like to review whether the issue is coming from something else.

First things first, please double-check that both you and your friend are using compatible devices, as many social features may be unavailable on certain devices, such as Rift S for PC VR.

Next, we would like to ask if you are having issues calling all friends or just one friend? Are you able to send messages normally?

Lastly, you may want to consider checking your Wi-Fi setup to ensure that you are not experiencing any Wi-Fi-related issues. We recommend testing another Wi-Fi network if possible, as this could help determine if there is something blocking your headset from making calls on your home network.

Please provide us with any further information you can, and we would be happy to further review and assist you to the best of our abilities!
