Pistol Whip: no controllers after update

Choleni

Since the last update to version 1.5.64.158 I can no longer play the PC version of the game because my controllers are somehow no longer recognized.
So I have no weapons/hands and can't even shoot the start button.
I spoke to Cloudhead Games about this (and another ongoing bug) and they told me I was the only one to report this so far.
So maybe it's just me????

Would be nice, if anyone who is playing the game also on pc could check if their controllers are still recognized.

Thanks!

Edit; in the meantime a friend tested it and he have also no controllers anymore.....so I know at least it's nothing wrong  on my end.

Hi hi @Choleni! We hope you're having a wonderful rest of your day so far! Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. We know it is important for our controllers to properly work at all times, so we would love to investigate this matter more in depth. In order for us to have a better idea of what may be happening, have you attempted all of the following troubleshooting steps:

- Reboot controllers

- Reboot your headset

- Factory Reset

Once you get back to us, we will be able to continue working on this together. Have a great day!

I have tested it with two headsets -  cable linked Quest 2 and a brandnew Quest 3, my friend tested it with Vive Pro - same result with all headsets - so I don't think factory reset would make any sence.

And the controllers working fine when I play the game standalone with Quest 2 or 3.....it's only the PC version where are no controllers.

I have the same problem. Just bought on oculus to play on my quest 3 with the link cable and same version number. No way to pass the start screen. No controls showing. Did you find a solution?

No, i play it standalone on Quest 3 for now.....luckily it's a cross buy game and on Quest 3 it looks much better than on Quest 2.

I contacted cloudhead games and told them about the problem, my friend did this also.

So they know about and (hopefully) working already on a fix.

I suggest you send a mail to their support  too.

The more info and playerlogs they get, the better. It might help Cloudhead games to fix this

Hey @kcBagz! We understand how it can feel when an app is not working as it should, and we want you to know we want nothing more than to get this resolved for you as soon as possible. Can you please confirm if this issue is only happening when connected to PCVR, or are you experiencing this issue in standalone as well? If the issue is only affecting PCVR, we do suggest, like @Choleni has said; reach out to the developer, here and let them know about the issue you are experiencing.

If the issue is happening in standalone as well, please send us a private message, so we can look into this deeper for you. To do so, please select our name to get to our profile page, or click here. I'm having the same problem, the game works fine standalone on my quest 2 but as soon as I try and run the PC version of the game the controllers arent detected. using a link cable.

Hey @Ravnos767! Thanks for reaching out, and letting us know you are having this issue as well. We know how not being able to play this app in PCVR, can be a hinderance to your VR experience, and we want you to be able to enjoy every aspect VR has to offer. Since your issue is pertaining to PCVR only, we suggest performing the controller troubleshooting steps that were posted earlier. If that does not resolve the issue, please repair the PC app.

  1. Download and run the Oculus Installation Software (meta.com/quest/setup/)
  2. You will see a screen which says "Already Installed".
  3. Click the "Repair" option, and confirm again on the next screen.

If the repair fails to resolve an issue with the Oculus desktop app, try uninstalling and reinstalling the app.

  1. Disconnect the Rift/Link cable from the computer
  2. Disconnect your computer from the internet
  3. Backup any necessary content
  4. Reboot into Safe Mode
  5. Uninstall the Oculus PC app using the Control Panel
  6. Delete all Oculus folders from the following folder:
    • C:\Program Files
  7. Remove any Oculus folders from the following locations:
    • C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData
    • C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData\Local
    • C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData\LocalLow
    • C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData\Roaming
    • C:\OculusSetup-DownloadCache
    • Note: The AppData folder is usually hidden. Use these steps to access AppData.
      1. Press Windows key + R to launch the Run dialog window.
      2. Type %AppData% in the Run box and click OK or press Enter
      3. File Explorer will launch to the AppData\Roaming subfolder.
      4. Click AppData in the File Explorer address bar to show all three subfolders in the AppData location.
  8. Restart your computer in normal mode
  9. Reconnect your computer to the internet
  10. Install the Oculus PC app again using the setup tool from our website here
  11. Reconnect the Rift/Link cable and re-test the headset

If the issue still persist, please reach out to the developer, here and let them know about the issue you are experiencing. Let us know if you have any questions!

Pistol Whip released an update yesterday.
I was pretty happy as I saw the update notes.....it says it will fix the “no controller issue.”

Unfortunately, that wasn't the case, at least not for me.☹️
Maybe because I always have to replace the OVRPlugin.dll in the game folder with another one in order to even be able to start the game???

@Ravnos767and @kcBagz what about you? Does it work for you, do you have the controllers back?

I have the same problem with Quest 3 on PCVR. Controllers are not recognized when I start the game 😞
