Please Help! No Video in Headset with R9 290 video card

I bought my son a Rift bundle for Christmas. We have had no luck getting it to work on his computer. It meets the minimum specs and passed the Oculus, Vive, and SteamVR compatibility checks. Oculus support has been polite but has not offered a viable solution. We have tried 3 different cables. They sent us one thinking the cable was bad. We also exchanged it at Best Buy and the new setup doesn't show video either. I can hear sound just fine. I have rolled back the driver from the AMD 17.12.2 suite to 17.7.2 and 17.4.3 but that hasn't helped. The last time I talked to support they told me my video card was failing which is odd because it works great from the hdmi port to his monitor. I asked for the errors that lead them to believe that and most of them were related the Asus MB AIsuite which has been defective since we installed Windows 10.

Here is his setup and I can provide the Oculus diagnostic logs if needed.
Radeon Software Version - 17.4.3
Radeon Software Edition - Crimson ReLive
Graphics Chipset - AMD Radeon R9 200 Series
Memory Size - 4096 MB
Memory Type - GDDR5
Core Clock - 1000 MHz
Windows Version - Windows 10 (64 bit)
System Memory - 16 GB
CPU Type - AMD FX(tm)-9590 Eight-Core Processor

Try repairing your installation by running OculusSetup.exe
It's a hassle, but it worked for me.

You should install the latest AMD video card drivers and, important, uninstall all Asus software from your machine.

Thank you for the replies uKER and cybereality. I've uninstalled and re-installed the setup.exe more times than I can count. I started this whole endeavor with the newest drivers. I've gone from 17.12.2 to 17.7.2 to 17.12.1 to 17.4.3. I have uninstalled some of the ASUS software but there are a few left. I will try uninstalling them as re-installing them won't be a big deal if I find I need them.

So I uninstalled all Asus programs and restarted the PC. No difference. I get sound but no video. I get the green check. This is really frustrating and support has been no help. Any ideas?

dang and now noone is answering you...that has me on the road to returning my brand new rift rather then bothering with support.  Most places have a limited return time for electronics so Oculus is really screwing their name here.  I def should have read around the forums before jumping back in after going through all the dk2 headaches.

I have this same video card and it works fine for me on my rift but the problem you are describing is the issue I have when trying to use Quest Link (which is unsupported currently with this card). Which headset are you using?
