I’ve noticed as of recently that while using the link app that it starts using excessive amounts of ram, almost like a memory link. This is while using just the Link program with and without SteamVR, and after a bit even just when the OVRserver function starts up after PC startup. It’ll start out fairly normal, sitting about 50-60% usage while playing the games (it uses about the same with steamvr as well) before slowly climbing to 99% where after a bit it will crash the connection, and sometimes crash my system entirely. I’ve tried closing steam and close whatever game I am running through the native runtime, but it only goes back down to 80-90% usage, even at idle or not even using VR. I have to force the OVRserver to close in task manager to get it to go back down. And now whenever OVR server starts up when I boot up my system, it starts to slowly eat through my ram.
I’ve had to uninstall the link program to stop it from using ram. I’ve tried all the fixes, the betas, uninstalling, repairing, turning off antivirus softwares, using it with and without SteamVR, adjusting the resolution and refresh rates, and it still has the same issue. And this is even after upgrading ram twice and getting a new motherboard and cpu.
I will note this is while using wired link, with any game and any runtime, with and without SteamVR. Anyone have and idea of what’s going on or any fixes that can be done?

FYI, link in v76 is super bugged, so it may be that. For me, it's unplayable.

Hmm true, it has been quite unusable, but its been an issue since before v76, around v74 I think is when it became a problem. It was a problem back on my old rig, and has been a problem on the new one, so I know its not a hardware issue

@LeFluffySquirrel I’m currently on the latest non-PTC v76.1023 and aren’t having any issues with either my Q3 or QPro/rtx4090/32Gb ram using my official link cable connected to my z790mb usb3.2 gen2 type c port with ODT set to 900mbps max dynamic bitrate. I’ve had some pretty long +2hr flights with msfs2020 without any dropouts. So, I don’t think this is necessarily a v76 update issue.
I don’t know but I’d suspect it could be a hardware issue with maybe your headset, cable, usb connection, who knows? You might want to check windows task manager and see if any unnecessary apps are running. Also avoid bloatware including overclocking apps. You might also try increasing your windows swapfile to 1.5x your current onboard ram.
Sorry, all I can think of right now. If you can’t sort this out with a little more troubleshooting then I suggest you contact meta support including your log files (google how to do this) and see if they can identify what’s causing your issues. Good luck mate and cheers.

The only thing I can think of is the USB port on my Q3 might be damaged, but it passes the usb test over usb 3.2 gen 2. but I have checked task manager and made sure that all the other programs are not causing problems. I'll try some things one more time with some adjusted settings and see how it goes

I have adjusted settings again, and the same problem is occurring, only for some reason after shutting the games or apps down, Oculus still is using at least 60-70% of ram, the remaining 20-30% is whatever game I was running and background stuff. I have 48gb of DDR5, and this problem even occurred when I had 64GB DDR4, which is insane considering the capacity difference and it still hovered at 80-90% on idle after closing apps at 64GB!! This is also after a complete rebuild, so all new parts, no old drivers or anything from my old rig. Again, this issue has been going on since around v74, so I can rule out the hardware, as I know my Ryzen 7 9800x3d and Radeon 7800xt are compatible and more than capable at running it. Also my headset appears to be fine, and its speeds are fine, and the cord I have is rated to run the speeds needed. So I am contacting support
