Hi, just purchased Meta Quest 2. When you turn it one, should there be a black screen?

Hi there @HairyDayThree! There definitely should not be a black screen when you turn on your device. We know how inconvenient it can be to have to deal with a black screen. Not to worry though, we're happy to help you look into this! 

 

Have you charged your device fully for at least 2 hours? If it is fully charged and you are still seeing a black screen, we suggest trying a factory reset on your device. This can be done through your headset or through the app on your phone. 

 

Before performing a factory reset, check on your phone to ensure that you have cloud backup enabled so you can save the data on your device after preforming the reset. This can be done through the app on your phone. If you need more information, this link will provide more details. 

 

To perform a factory reset on your headset: 

  1. Turn off your headset.
  2. Hold the power and volume (-) button on your headset down simultaneously until the boot screen loads on your headset.
  3. Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Factory Reset and press the power button.
  4. Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Yes and press the power button.

To perform a factory reset through your app:

  1. Open the Meta Quest app on your phone.
  2. Tap Devices in the bottom menu.
  3. Tap the headset connected to your phone.
  4. Tap Advanced Settings.
  5. Tap Factory Reset and then Reset.
