Problem Reinstalling Oculus

Don414

Hello,

I recently had to reset my Windows and had many of my files wiped including my Oculus install. So, along with everything else, I attempted to reinstall it. However, after OculusSetup.exe has been running for a while, a message will eventually pop up saying "Sorry, we encountered an error during installation. Please restart your computer and try running Oculus Setup again". Of course, simply restarting and trying again hasn't worked. This seems to be a common issue, so I've already spent some time looking online and testing solution. However, nothing has worked so far.

Taking a look at the OculusSetup.txt log located at Users>[Name]>AppData>Local>Oculus, every one of my attempts to reinstall ends with the following (Error/Warning messages in bold):

[Debug] [6/4/2020 1:16:12 PM] Installing 'Visual C++ 2015 Update 3' redistributable.

The full Oculus Setup log is attached to this post.

I've also tried running the installer as administrator, but it didn't help. I've tried disabling Windows Defender, but it didn't fix the issue either. Perhaps I'm not disabling all of it/disabling it correctly? I'm not sure.

Does anyone have any ideas on what's up with my installer? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hey @Don414, verify that you can see hidden files. Afterwards delete the Oculus Files under your AppData as well as the C:\Program_Files or directly under C:\Oculus. Sometimes a new user profile can resolve the issue as well. If you need further assistance, reach out to Oculus Support. - Principe.
