Problem starting applications

I've had the Oculus Rift for a couple of weeks now. I am using Windows 7 with an nvidia GTX 980 Ti. Everything is working fine except most of the applications I download from the Oculus store just do not start. The Oculus dream deck does not start (although I was able to view it during the setup process). Many games do not start, including one I just purchased called Defense Grid 2. I just press the start button and nothing happens. No error message, nothing. I got The Body VR to work and the Oculus 360 photos app. It doesn't matter whether I try to launch the games while wearing the headset or from clicking the start button on the desktop app. Please help me! I am thinking of returning or selling it because I cannot get this to work and it's annoying.

I'm having the same problem. some of my games start while others don't. the home doesn't load within the headset at all. All of my steam games work with the rift so It's not the hardware.

check your display settings. I had the same problem. I looked in my display settings and saw 2 additional displays that were added at some point. I removed the 2 displays, leaving only my monitor active and the rift worked after that.

I'm having the same problem (reported here: https://forums.oculus.com/community/discussion/39895/defense-grid-2-vr-wont-start ) but I don't see any "extra" displays.

Could you please share screenshots and your system config?

Thanks

No, unplugging the monitor didn't do anything. I have tried reformatting my computer and doing a fresh reinstall of windows 7 and it's not working. Here is what looks like a debug log file when I tried to open defense grid 2 (happens in many other applications as well):

I am using nvidia GTX 980Ti. I have no problems playing games on other platforms and this is a new computer that has been working fine all around. This is very frustrating I am thinking about just returning the whole thing and trying to get a refund for the games I've purchased because I can't play anything.

Did you look into your windows display settings to see if the oculus was showing up as two small displays. The oculus displays should not be visible in the windows display settings so if they are you have an issue.
