Problem with link cable and same USB port

I am connecting the Meta Quest 3 via link cable with my pc. While connecting I am following the procedure:

1) Start PC and Meta Quest

2) Start Oculus software

3) Plug in the USB link cable.

The weird thing is now, I get only a permanent connection (the green light in oculus) when I connect to an USB port of my pc which was not used before by the meta quest. When I try to use the USB port of the previous session again, I get a connection for maybe 1 or 2 seconds and then I get disconnected. But, I can use same USB port again after I used another one. So, I am switching permanently between 2 USB ports to get a connection.

 If the connection is established one time successfully it is absolutely stable. 

Sounds weird, but I can reproduce this behavior. Any hints or suggestions?

Hey @airfix.2024, we value all our VR community customers and want you to have the most extraordinary experience using our products. Thank you for informing us of the steps you have taken so far. In regards to your connection errors with Quest 3 via link cable with your PC, I'd like to ask a couple questions/ give some trouble shooting steps to try out.

  1. Are you using a high quality USB cable capable of supporting the data and power?
  2. Are the drivers on your PC up-to-date. 

If you're using a USB A to USB C adapter, make sure that it supports USB 3.

  • Some adapters are only USB 3 if the USB cable is seated in the adapter in one direction. The other may be USB 2.
  • If you’re using a USB C to USB C cable, try unseating and reseating the cable into the port using different orientations, as some ports may only see USB 3 in certain orientations.
  • If you’re using a PCI-E card, make sure that the cable is fully inserted by unseating and reseating it.
