Problems with installing Oculus app

I have been trying to install the Oculus app for around 2 days and all I get is either this popup, or the downloader crashes during installation. I have a stable internet connection and I have restarted my computer several times and now I am unsure as to what the issue is or how to solve it.

Hey there! We'd love to help you get to the root of why the Meta Quest Link app is failing to install on your PC! First, we'd like to make sure that your PC is fully compatible with the Quest Link software. Second, we have some other considerations to check out:

  • Make sure your headset is not plugged in during installation
  • Ensure Windows Defender is disabled during installation
  • What version is your C++ Redistributable on?
  • Ensure that the PC account you're installing as, has administrator permissions
  • Check for any optional Windows updates

Please give this list of recommendations a once over, and let us know if you're still having this issue!

Hi, I have tried all of the solutions you suggested but unfortunately none of them have worked.

I have the latest version of C++ Redistributable and had no available windows updates. If it makes any difference, I also updates my GPU drivers since I heard that could work, but alas it didn't.

I have had the Oculus app before but the issue started when I uninstalled it and attempted to reinstall due to an issue I was having. I performed a clean wipe of the app to ensure there was no trace of the old version left.

Thank you for that information, but just to make sure everything was properly removed we do want to provide and have you follow the full clean uninstall instructions we have for situations like this to make sure nothing happened to get missed and is causing the current issues. Please follow the steps below:

  1. Disconnect the Rift/Link cable from the computer
  2. Disconnect your computer from the internet
  3. Backup any necessary content. You can find steps on how to do so by clicking here.
  4. Reboot into Safe Mode. You can find steps on how to do so by clicking here.
  5. Uninstall the Oculus PC app using the Control Panel. You can find steps on how to do so by clicking here.
  6. Delete all Oculus folders from the following folder:C:\Program Files
  7. Remove any Oculus folders from the following locations:
    1. C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData
    2. C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData\Local
    3. C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData\LocalLow
    4. C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData\Roaming
    5. C:\OculusSetup-DownloadCache
  8. Restart your computer in normal mode
  9. Reconnect your computer to the internet
  10. Install the Oculus PC app again using the setup tool from our website here
  11. Reconnect the Rift/Link cable and re-test the headset

Please let us know if you continue to have issues after completing these steps, and we will continue working with you to sort this out.
