Proximity Sensor ISSUES Q3

CodedParticles
Explorer

Its happened to  3 devices now, if i put the headset on. it  gives me error or "cant track" and black screen, IF i move the  headset back away from my face, it shows the VR environment but its  stuck.  If i move headset further away from my face then the  environment gets unstuck and i'm able to  turn my head in VR but as soon as I put the headset to the normal distance  where  it should be  on  my face  it  loses tracking... WHY is this happening?

Hi @CodedParticles. We see the issues you are having with your environment and how the tracking is not working as you expected. We would like to send you some tips and tricks on how to help with these issues.

  • Have you tried using your headset in a different room?
  • How lit is the room you are trying to play in?
  • Have you tried cleaning the tracking cameras by following the product care and best practices we offer?

If you could give these ideas a go and let us know if they help any or let us know any troubleshooting steps you have already tried, we will be happy to continue to assist you further. We look forward to hearing from you soon.

the headset that had  that issued was  returned to the  store. Got a new one and NOW... JUST NOW... THE SAME ISSUE.. the inside sensor keeps thinking when I have the headset on  my head that its too close, then when I move the headset atleast a couple off inches off my face then it shows the VR environment, but then aggain I try to put the headset normally where it should fit on my face and tracking is lost.

YES, the lighting in  my room is the same everyday, I use it in the  same space, nothing  changed in the physical space. the lenses are cleaned  everyday, the outside cameras too. Nothing has changed except the  fact that the sensor keeps **bleep**ing up.

Its not the sensors on the outside, its the one between the  lenses.

reseting the  device doesnt work and factory resetting is OUT OF THE QUESTION. That only makes device useless since you can't finish the set up because the sensor wont let you finish because it glitches the  screen and cant nagivate or select anything to continue set up plus  the set up screen never shows up only the environment.

the only thing  I can do is use the Developer App to turn off proximity sensor and boundary and THAT keeps me inside VR BUT! The environment is fixed on my view, meaning the who environment moves with my head, the pointer dot is fixed in the middle. Controllers wont connect tho. neither hand tracking. AS of now that seems to  be  the main issue, proximity sensor and the boundary.

Thank you for the immediate updates! Have you attempted to play this in a different environment to note how things change/may change?

For this replacement device, what troubleshooting steps have you already since attempted? We definitely do not want you hearing the same programming over and over again, and are looking instead towards a better resolution that will help us narrow down once you are able to provide the troubleshooting steps already tried.

I have tried going to different areas and still does NOT work. Again it is not the sensors outside that seems to be the issue, its the proximity sensors between the lens inside the headset. With this headset I've only reset the headset, No factory reset because as I stated before, that process renders the headset useless and cant be used anymore.

RIGHT NOW I am able to access and VR environments because I turned off the proximity sensor using the "Meta Quest Developer Hub App" I also disabled the Boundary. by doing disabling those two things I am able to be inside the headset BUT AGAIN, can't control anything inside becuase the view  inside is fixed in  the  middle.
I am no going to try and reconnect the controllers and see if i can get them to pair.

Controllers wont pair to device using the mobile app.
